:speak to the hand anyone on less than a 30 hour contract should have their entire walk thrown off for them, all they should have to do is bag up and hope the drivers not f*cked off... :pray (I'm 30 hours bye the way) :cfo :mfo
Im on a 25 hour contract, whats the difference between that and 30 out of interest
Your entire walk should be ready. Thats the difference.
Aye ah know but what is it the 30 hour contracted posties have to do that I dont. Btw I didnt mean that in a cheeky way, not in the job long so genuinely dont know.

Do they come into an empty frame and throw in ALL the mail?

Personally i get on the 90% of the pt in our office but this is what my working day consists off.

I work in a group of 3 and i'm the only ft in the group, the other 2 lads start at half 7 & 8 am respectivly. I start at 6 and have to throw both there walks in, if its a truly heavy day then i'm pulled away from doing that to help out with ips. Once they come in then and only then i can start sorting my own walk in. I'm also the van/packet man for the three areas so once we do eventually go out on delivery it takes me 1-1.5 hours to do my packets then afterwards i start on my 2.5/3 hour delivery. The 2 lads seem to think that as packet man i take every sort of packet known to man even small ones that will easily slip through a letterbox. I've been doing this round since i started on the post for 12 years and use to enjoy it but now its becoming to much of a stress havin to babysit 2 pt and if god forbid i do complain to my DOM all i get in reply is just to get on with it.

Doesn't it depend on the walk? They aren't all the same. I cover a handful, and some are half prepped when I get in, others not touched. It varies on certain days as well.

30 hour contracts do not do IPS. you just throw all the walk off. Im a reserve so its a different walk every week (200+) in our D,O, so not only are you trying to learn the frame ( I've done about 100 walks) it gives you about 1.5 hours to prep it, packets, killoffs ect :left: now on a 6 hour day (I will break this up ) 3.5 hour delivery time, 30 minutes break, 30 minutes traveling time + pouching off (we use buses) it cant be done :cuppa :cfo :cfo :cfo :mfo :mfo :mfo so I cut off :nana

I am a part timer on 30 hours, and I start at 8 till 2pm, my round is a full time round, I am always running out of time to do anything, but it doesn't bother me, because whatever time I get out or finished, I just claim whatever is own to me, and course I it help me get near 40 hours,I also take my breaks, and just to defend my fellow full timers, don't forget they have to do hour and half sorting, and are always getting called up by the annoying managers to do more sorting

I am on a 25 hour contract having been brought down from 35 hours to 25 hours. It is no fault of the part timers that they have outlined the contract as the walk having to be prepped and ready to go, it is TOTALLY unfair on full timers that as more and more pt'ers come in more and more are taken off ips to prep and the workload will become unbearable. This is all part of the big picture, RM want all pt'ers, they want rid of full timers and these are part of the methods they are using. They want full timers to give in for an easier life and become a pt'er. When everyone is part time, then they will turn the screw again, absorption introduced, etc, etc. The villain here is RM, look at all the in fighting it is stirring up like on this thread

we do needa break ive been part time for 3 years in my office, still not been given a walk and now with all this modernisation coming in they are expecting to much from us!
i dont quite get how ur meant to fit,
-coming in finishing of the prep off the walk,
-preping parcels
-redirections
-kill offs
-tieing up
-then tieing up the extra 15% off a round we have to do every day
-20 mins travel to walk
-3 1/2 completing round.
-travel to extra 15%
-complete extra 15% of walk
-pouch off
-and then 20 minutes break

now tell me how that is possible on a 25 hour a week contract? its a joke! plus never mind the 10 miles to get to and from work every day on my bike! seriously havn't given part timers any thought about this neew modernisations! im doing exactly the same as full timers part from 45 mins i.p.s and yet they get paid hours!

absolute joke!

Like the other day, they got together and tried saying they should have first choice on picking A/L, never heard so much rubbish.. :mad
At my DO PT and FT pick from different pots. IE only a certain amount of FTs are allowed off in 1 week and the same with PTs .

EG. 2 FT and 5 PTs per week - end of- Not a total of 7 staff allowed of in week.

45 minutes - I want a transfer - we are expected to do up to 2 hours. Hence why at our office PT and FT duties are exactly the same apart from the IPS for 2 hours.
