guys what are the offical rules on D2D? the manager in our place seems to make up the rules to his benifit, so we dont finish after our time and cut off. I tried to throw off my D2D in the 15 minutes before we go onto the sorting about 20% of my walk, he said we have to do it in our own time, i believe this is a lie.

Had this one quoted at me before and I told the DUM that if I do them in my own time then they must be voluntary as anything in my time is my choice, and therefore if they're voluntary then I opt out of doing them at all. After a few idle threats he walked away and I now I do them in prep time, booking it if necessary. Allways call their bluff.

I was lucky enough to get a copy from the CWU branch office. ask the area rep/secretary to dig them out. Or there may be something on the union website.

RE: DOOR 2 DOOR – PREPARATION

The Branch has been contacted several times recently regarding the above issue.

It appears that a number of Managers are informing Members that the preparation of Door 2 Door items should be processed in an individuals own time and not within their duty time. Below is a direct extract from the National Agreement on Door 2 Door (Joint Statement from Royal Mail & the CWU on Door to Door (page 7)) which should clarify this issue;

1. It is accepted that the principle of Door to Door being paid as a unit payment is that it will be absorbed within normal duty time into existing deliveries in accordance with the nationally advertised service standards for all mail.

As you will see from the above statement there is NO requirement for any individual to perform preparation of Door to Door items in their own time, indeed there is a clear recognition from the employer that Door to Door workload should be absorbed within an individual’s normal duty time.

Should you find that you local manager is not abiding by the above statement please contact me immediately through the channels so that these issues can be progressed accordingly.

I just recently started a new walk and due to the lack of pouch boxes used one of the "golf trolleys". Added about an hour on to the walk.

an hour to the walk?? How long can you leave it un-attended and does it lock?
