Some people on this board really seem to hate the Royal Mail, and they are working for them. I very much appreciate the letter we all received this morning. The Royal Mail is prepared to help its employees work elsewhere during the strikes. I think those that hate the Royal Mail and are working for them should go and work elsewhere and not come back. If I hated Royal Mail, I would not work for them, and I would not waste time slagging the company off on internet chat sites, I would go and get a job that I liked doing. According to news reports we are striking partly because our workload is too much at times - come on, what's wrong with a little hard graft. Our pay is not the best, but nor is it the worst around either. I accept that being a postie is not much of a job really, I mean its only delivering letters, yet all jobs can be done poorly or done well, and doing any job well is not an easy task and someone's got to do it! So, putting youthful ambitions to the side, I pick up my mail bag and fill it day after day, after day. The job is what it is. I am not self-employed, and so I cannot work as I please, I work for a company. I choose to work for the Royal Mail, and so do you, otherwise we'd be doing something else. I choose work over strike every time, but last Friday no-one went in at our office leaving me no option but to stay away. Now with this letter from the company, I have other options to work if I wish. My gut instinct is that this strike is damaging, in the current social climate of rising unemployment and increasing hardship, and general public consensus that our job is facing the challenge of the modern world of communication where the pace of change is dictating our very lives, not just the way in which we send and receive messages.

Well i viewed the letter as a desperate measure by R/M to get some work force in place to deal with the mail.

R/M by sending out these letters are treating us and our dispute with contempt by sending us these letters.

In view of this i didnt even bother to open mine and just put a dead sticker on it with refused on it.

I would say at least 50% of our office done this today aswell.

Peejay you want to be a strike breaker thats up to you and for you decide on your own morale principles.

If you are in the union and can not abide by the demorcratic vote of the members well leave the union .

feelings are running high at the mo and people to freely admit to crossing a picket line or wanting to are just stiring things up and are not helping the cause much.

Just one question peejay if you chose to cross a picket line how could you work in the same office along side your fellow colleagues and look them in the eye.

Do you allways let others fight for you as what ever we may achieve out of this dispute you will benefit aswell dont you think considering everythink that your actions could be deemed as selfish.

I think my friend you need to wake up and smell the coffee dont let others make the stand on your behalf join us and be a 100% in this fight.

peejay14 if we lose this one how will you feel when royal mail takes your wonderful job off you and adds it so someone else's workload. you could be one of the unfortunates condemmed to the job centre. new boy equals less redundancy payments, another saving. working now will not save you. in my opinion the best chance you have of saving your job and other jobs is to fight now. the harder we fight the less jobs will be lost and perhaps we will all like our jobs with reasonable workloads and no pressure, harassment and bullying.
