CWU / RM STATEMENT ON TALKS

CWU and Royal Mail have been meeting today at the TUC to discuss all the
issues involved in the current dispute.

We have had useful discussions today, and the talks are being adjourned
to allow further work to be done overnight on some of the issues
involved

We will be reconvening again in the morning here in Congress House to
continue the talks.

In the meantime neither CWU nor Royal Mail will be making any further
comment.

After Crazier's megalomaniac performance yesterday I can't really see anything I could even think of voting yes to coming so quickly. The trouble is how far from his roots has Dave Ward moved? If he's become part of the Establishment then we are sunk.

Will it be a quick "call off the action so we can talk" cos we all know where that leads (after xmas management will say Kiss my ar*e) or has the government had a cave in moment like over the TA and told C and H to back down and reach a deal?

The quicker they reach a deal the more chance it's the first option The longer it takes then the more chance it won't stink too much and if it is then D. Ward for Chairman

Nah, i don't think so, London posties will surely be making sure the important issues are addressed with agreement. I don't think they will be too happy for losing over a £1000 for nowt. Pension and workplans are things to be discussed in future.

Surely the talks are about why London have been out all summer??? Workloads and area reps communicating back bullying and harassment. Pay not a issue, reduncacny maybe discussed a little and probably pensions but that will be over the next two months.

If the top two issues aren't be addressed, we should continue to stay out on strike.

Mandie is just as likely to u turn as any other politician if the wind of change suits his sails
i think London posties have won there argument backed by national strikes and unless the union are incredibly stupid or "druged " i cant see them losing . We have had these draconian changes in our office and because were not London we wait until the big boys in the smoke make a stink where union is much stronger , if london wants London gets so we will have to hope the change comes to our office sometime soon ..

Spot on, steven100. The appalling actions of management in London must be addressed, forcing impossible workloads on our members, then when management are faced with cut-offs, the bullying and harrassment, not to mention downright intimidation of our members to work beyond their time, must stop for ever, not a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years, for ever. And that goes for our colleagues all the length and breath of the UK and Northern Ireland too.
