Re: WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE
Our manager is out following us once or twice weekly. He believes nothing any of us say about being over our time and he trusts no one.

thats because they are not used to Hard work Jim, they do get used to sitting in ther offices drinking tea ......planning whos going next!! or what duty they are going to collapse.......and to think that some of them used to be postmen.......not very good ones thoughJimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:I did that once many years ago before the 10% loss in mail (10% increase morelike!!) , he did 3 bags with me (half my round) then went back to work

Re: WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE
I have to say, some of you must work in terrible offices. Only in the last year have the managers started coming down on posties who cut off or book extended.

Re: WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE
Have to agree with Col456xyz regarding the union. Don't have much faith in an organisation that agrees to an employee having to accept a minimal reward for overtime (approx. 50p more per hour) and if working an 11th hour or more, being paid less than the basic rate. Surely that is similar to paying to do the overtime. And without the posties working overtime the job wouldn't get done - then where would Royal Mail be???

Re: WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE
Our office have brought in 4 hour 30 deliveries.
They have two 30 hour contracts doing a van share, they go in 6am throw up their rounds (No Ips) then go onto another round and throw that in with another two 30 hour contracters, they spend about 20 mins each throwing in the (Breakdown round) They then split it 4 ways,They also must take EVERY parcel between the rounds and Every special delivery.
About twelve 30 hour contractors do this,so thats 12 rounds covered and 3 extra are broken down,6 vans are used.
They are all paid 30 hours also 2 hours S/A per day,The manager refused them to have a normal 40 hour contract and this was the best he would offer them.
I feel sorry for them because some days they are going out with mountains of mail and 20 + parcels.
I know they have been guaranteed this until may next year,They have been doing it since september.
In the last 3 years in my office 12 full time workers have Left / Sacked but not 1 part timer has been made full time,Giving us more and more work to do on the IPS every morning,Yet other offices have.
Consistency throughout Royal Mail.............................NOT.

We've had those tag detectors installed on the loading bay and the callers office.
Plus we've had health and safety around to make the job more difficult

Re: WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE
This lasted about a week in our office the batteries for the scales "disappeared", managers soon got fed up of waiting until 3pm to sign us all back in, funny how now it's stopped we are mostly back by 1:30Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote: Now have to weigh bags, do tick sheet, sign in , sign out, wear full uniform and nothing else ,even though when its freezing theres nothing to wear. If you wear your fleece youve nowt to put on when you go out.
All we have to do now is sign a "Right of way" sheet on our way out .

Re: WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE
We once had a manager just like this a few years back. I used to cut every sat and it drove her madjaja wrote:Ask him to actually go out with you on delivery do the job properly he will see for himself....mabe... just mabe he might start to trust you all??golfer72 wrote:Our manager is out following us once or twice weekly. I got up to my finish time and walk over to her and told her i was taking back one bag. She went mental saying i had not been walking fast enough (it was slippy on the ice) and that she would see me in her office first thing monday morning. She then took the bag off me saying that someone has to finish an honest days work.
I was mad as hell but come monday morning i really was'nt looking forward to the argument
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

thats what they called it and it involved driving round in their cars watching you. Anyway it was a bitter and cold icy morning and she sat in her warm car drinking coffee from a flask watching me go round.

She had fallen over on her 3rd house and fractured her ankle
She was off work for 4 weeks and when she returned she never mentioned it again.

Re: WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE
Work till your time everyday including saturdays
Only 4 sa in total in the office and a few for collections
My personal favourite was getting sent to another office, then finding out that another person was brought in from further affield to cover my duty
d2d prep in own time, managers check to see if your doing it in work time and threaten conduct code which baffels me as theres nothing in the conduct code about d2d prep as far as im aware
flexibility 30 mins, being told you HAVE to do it regardless of what you have planned after work i.e picking up my kids from school
ALL docket left items to be returned to the RLE and signed in with full address and name of the packet
Only allowed a certain number of P739 cards
All re-deliverys go back out as recordeds except redilvery of recordeds which get treated as specials
ips tests
Not really a change but still out of the reserves in our office only one has had a full long weekend in the past 3 years
Being told your not allowed the union rep with you when called into the office, that lasted nearly a day
No smoke or tea breaks until 09.20, this one lasted about 2 weeks
most days 2 hours of sorting minimum
And last but not least around 20 people on fixted term contracts that have already rolled over twice have been informed that they will not be rolling over again.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
