Fresh bid to resolve post dispute

I begin to get the jitters when I hear that the TUC are going to be involved in the talks. What a shambles the last involvement was in the 2007 Pay and Modernisation agreement, they must have persuaded those who knew it was a bad deal to accept it and moreover to recommend it to the rank and file - two years down the line we're back to square 1. This time if there is an agreement we need to be 100% sure it has some legs.

The CWU have to get us a decent deal this time,the fealing amongst rank and file members for loosing money for strikes,and then to be sold down the river again like in 2007 when even many shop stewards were against that deal .Their have been calls by the CWU leadrship recently for a new Polictal party,well if this is a sell out via the Tuc ,I can see calls for a new voice to represent the Rank and file members,many now have their Own Personal greivencies with RM based upon excessive work loads and conditions,not to mention closeures of mail centers and having to travel some distance if they are lucky to still have a job to the new Mail center.

Look at the result of the strike ballot and the picket lines across the country,many offices had their best ever responce to strike and members on Picket lines,WHY ?,we need a proper deal that means we have safe sensible working conditions, and a fair work load, without intimidation or threats,is this a unreasonable demand for 21010

Do hope the CWU big boys read this forum,so they understand the staff on the frontline.

In one letter dated July 28, seen by The Mail on Sunday, Mr Crozier told former postman Mr Hayes it was 'very disappointing' that he was threatening a major national dispute over issues that he believed had been resolved in 2007.

Mr Crozier - paid £995,000 last year - strongly urged Mr Hayes to call upon his deputy Dave Ward to get back into discussions with Royal Mail executives. A Royal Mail spokesman said last night: 'Adam has written at least a dozen times to arrange a face-to-face meeting with Billy Hayes but he has not even received a reply to his letters or phone calls. There has been no response.

'Instead, the CWU leadership has rejected this olive branch and gone ahead with these damaging and appalling strikes.'

A spokesman for Mr Hayes, who enjoys a £97,000-a-year pay package, said last night that Mr Crozier had been 'invisible' for the past month and had taken no part in the negotiations.

He added: 'Billy does not accept he has had 12 letters from Adam Crozier - nothing like it.

'But, more importantly, Billy is saying to Adam, "Come along and meet me."' "

So how many letters HAS Billy ignored from Adam Crozier then? I thought his problem in his press conference was that he wanted Crozier involved and hadn't heard anything from him?

Its the Daily Mail - the same paper that has been running anti postal worker stories since the summer so sorry I do not put much credence in their report. If they have seen the letters then why have they not printed at least 1 and why haven't RM responded by releasing them as well.

Royal Mail Dispute

Royal Mail and the CWU have in recent days been in contact with the TUC over the current dispute and have sought the TUC's assistance in resolving any outstanding issues around the draft document discussed last Tuesday to avoid further industrial action and provide the basis for productive talks

on the future of Royal Mail.

As a result both Royal Mail and the CWU have accepted an invitation from the TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber to talks on Monday.

The TUC had previously assisted Royal Mail and the CWU to reach the 2007 Pay and Modernisation Agreement, which included talks on the longer term Royal Mail transformation agenda.

This is a worrying statement from Barber who seems to think that by rewriting the draft document is the basis for calling off the strikes - I don't think the rank and file will go along with that - we had them reeling in 2007 and called off the strikes on the promise of constructive talks and we ended up with a shambles - we DO NOT want more talks we want AGREEMENT and one that is acceptable to the work force - I for one do not want to be striking every six months because the so called "talks" end up with Royal Mail simply carrying on the way they are now.

Never mind public opinion, never mind public debate, never mind labour dissatisfaction, never mind jounalistic licence - all these things will pass, but fail to get an acceptable agreement and the troubles continue - get some balls, get a grip and state quite clearly what we want and what we are prepared to accept and THAT is the bottom line.

And for Gods' sake get someone who understands agreements read the bloody thing this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
