Re: Skegness in the sun
This could of course be a setup, our 'ever truthful' newspapers are great at it - but where did the photos come from, who are those people in the photos - IF they are shots from this recent action and on the picket line then they really should hang their heads in shame. Drinking beer and have a "grand old time" whilst everyone in the country gets their mail delayed is no way to win public support!
It really doesn't matter one bit if "it's the sun" or any other gutter-paper, large numbers of the British public buy these rags and, a rather sad reflection on our society these days, they believe every single word and picture that's printed.. So even if it was an after-picket-drink, common sense should have been applied and the uniform ditched. We have a very mixed reaction with the public and we need positive stories not piss-taking ones to help our cause.

the picture looks if it's been Photoshopped ( not very wellPOSTMAN wrote:We've had beer at our picket line.
And i'm guessing there was no one drunk on the skeggy line.
IT'S THE SUN FFS!!!!
The white road sign has got blurred into the postie with the bottle - it's looks more like something from the days they used film and the door on the camera had come open ( the white blurred bit ) . Layers in Photoshop is like putting one plastic sheet on top of another & another on a overhead projector if you will BUT you can only do that so much ( blending layers ) .
Web photo reproduction is cr** anyway , it's only 72 d.p.i. ( dots per inch ) at best .
In the trade Newspaper photo quality is regarded as grease on Izal toilet paper . The local rag reporter uses a 4.1 MP Nikon - it's adequate
if you blow up the main subject cropping out the background out - the main subject will go all jagged and blurry .
It's simple Maths - You've run out of pixels
Let's just say some of the picket line haven't done themselves any favours but quell surprise - The Sun has distorted things . Somebody would have spotted the photographers and told the lads to put the beer down - even allowing for telephoto lenses & shooting from a distance
That bloke will be in the Office if RM sees this - but the Union could argue the evidence is inadmissible
Anyone else handy with Photoshop got any thoughts on that picture ?

Re: Skegness in the sun
So they had some beer, but did not get drunk and a passing motorist got arsey with them, I dont see that as some terrible crime, the only crime is those that crossed the line!!!
Last night CWU union spokesman Paul Moffat admitted strikers in Skegness had been drinking - but claimed no one was drunk.
He also confirmed an altercation with a motorist though he denied there was swearing.
He said: "We've reiterated to them there should never be alcohol on a picket line."
