Small office in Sheffield 52 people. 8 on A/L 8 their day off 36 possible according to Manager in WTL 22 of the 36 had stated they would come in, Around 10 came in to the office today 5 were from other offices, 3 went in and came out again few minutes later saying they couldn't do it felt bad, 2 were going to come in but after talking to us went home again. So in effect 5 from 36 from our office came in. Very little mail arrived at the office anyway the non strikers did prep, delivered went home paid for the full day!

I was fearful of being in the minority in our office as it is small and compliant with a reasonable manager if I'm honest, for only 5 to have gone in that is a great effort and I hope it continues, should add of the 5, 2 were always going to come in, last strike in 07 they came in on their week off to scab!!! nice.

I think the support has been better then anyone expected.

I do know that a week ago the managers in the HU area where predicting many more would cross the picket lines this time well they got that wrong only two did in the Mail centre out of around 400 on site. One was the always going to cross and the other is a managers bird.

I can see this is the pattern across a lot of the country and this could well be one of the main reasons RM has now decided over the weekend to take part in meaningful talks.

We are not there yet, but togther as in the past we can win and the public are moving behind our cause as we spread the word on the doorstep.
