Got asked loads of times why I wasn't striking but when I explained I would be on friday everyone was friendly and didn't start screaming at me that I was killing Royal Mail as you woud expect if you read alot of comments online from the public. One set of builders called me a "arse licking scab" to which i replied f- off I'm no scab and have never crossed a picket line and never will.

Same as everyone else today....I got 'the question' (don't even wanna type it out..!!) , but being on a rural I had to drive a van...!! Although we can explain to the punters on the street......but not the drivers of every car that passed, felt so uneasy.......I wanted to chase every car to wherever, get them to roll down the window and ease my conscious by saying"I'm out tmrw"....!!! :dance

What a weird thread!
Started of with the abuse, but thinking about it,that's kind of a good thing if members of the public thought that we were scabbing,if you get my drift.
Then the support from OUR customers, the customers we see every day,i had that today as well,in fact one old dear called RM 'bastards' .
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Delivering mail today, but not a scab!!

Post by RoyalQuest »

HQ need to sort this out by giving more detailed info to the press, on my walk today was called scab once but asked by about 30 of my regular customers what the hell i was doing working  , added about 30 minute to my duty (went over) explaining my postion. No doubt i will have the same next week but will have to explain this over 2 days as the media are telling everyone it's a 3 day strike :arrrghhh :arrrghhh .

If you work in delivery and have been delivering today then you are a scab! or do you mean you worked yesterday and was called a scab?

I'm a postie, but my Do is attached to a mail center. So all our staff were on strike yesterday (22nd) and returned to work today.

i am not a scab

Post by harry09 »

I spent half my time today explaining why i was working today had a few people call me a scab (most likely fellow posties) and had a little old dear say dont worry about if you get called one of those strike breakers dear i think its good to see you out....
Jesus do you know how hard it is explaining the differnce between a Mail center and a Delivery office? Must admit it was fun people were looking at me like the lesser spotted postman, as they all think we are out for 2 days.... But got to say everyone was behind me and people are understanding more .....
