The strike seems solid and I think it would be helpful to everyone to know how it is being fought on the ground, we do not get back much in the way of info from the union HQ.

I can report only one "eric" has crossed the line at the Hull MC thus far and it is better then we thought as we have a few who have "spinal problems". The picket line has been visited by the local media and I think the general public are grasping the case we are putting.

Exeter mail centre has over 400 out on strike but rumour has it that 30 or more will be going into work at the delivery office! Quite a few of the surrounding towns have many staff going in.

A 100% supported strike is claimed to be 80% say for he reasons above.

Well cant talk for our MC but in common with the recent local strikes at our main DO strike rates will be higher than 2007 within our rural area My own office will be 100% out ,an improvement on 2007 .and in common with our main DO previous strikebreakers from 2007 will from our area not only be striking but some will be on picket duty.
Lets look at positives rather than rumours of negative support which may be from Royal Mail's propaganda machine to sway support.

Mount Pleasant was solid as it has been forthe last 16 weeks.
Good turnout on the picketline. Lots of media there all day.
Lots of support from passersby and cars, lorries and buses tooting.
And we had a number of trades unionists from other workplaces and
industries turning up to stand with us and show support.
We feel a lot more confident now that the rest of the country are joining
the fight.

Just gotta say well done to all the workers that have been out for the last few months, fantastic and the rest of us owe you all much more than we could give.


Now is the time for the rest of us to show the same fortitude and resolve.

Stevenage mail centre was solid today with only seven strike breakers going in all on the late shift,with 100% support from deliveries. Good support from the public who were very vocal in their opinions with most being positive,although some abuse in the form of hand gestures and name calling. The negative comments were mostly from self employed tradesmen. One thing I noticed is that Stobbarts were turning up with RM trailers so are they being used as strike breakers?

The strike does seem pretty solid going by the reports i have recieved from my fellow comrades up & down the country, now its down to the delivery offices to carry on our work - they better not let us down.

BTW - does anyone know anything about Norwich MC ?? A mate of mine said some staff there were giviing it some bollox they were not in the strike as they had struck a special deal ??

Just come off picket line and no-one was working at our office (Shirley, Birmingham) but managers coming in and out aplenty.

loads and loads of public support....more so than in 2007... bringing food etc
