I for one have no sympathy whatsoever for the so called "management". you take the money, bully your staff, don't have the balls to answer your superiors back (even when you know they are wrong) welcome to the world of royal mail!!! p.s don't forget "mail volumes are falling!"

Re: Managers union now involved, it gets better!!
Lets not waste our ntime waiting for support from managers...............
The only people they are interested in are themselves and I for one will look forward with delight to there come uppance once we have sorted our problem out. As sure as night follows day RM will hack them to bits and no one will give a rats arse, lets face it they are just spineless.
Look to our fight and let them worry about life after RM, most of them end up as taxi drivers anyway little else they can handle.

I may be wrong here, but I think mail peaked 2-3 years ago and the 'mail is down' figures we are given now are taken from that - the very highest figures.stokes11eg wrote:Does anybody out there have back volumes of the courier. If memory serves me well, a few years ago they were quoting mail volumes, and round about 76 million---the same as is being bruted about now! Oh, to catch them out in their own lies!!!!
From around 2002-present I think mail is only actually down around 7%, yet staffing levels are down 20%.

Re: Managers union now involved, it gets better!!
In their submission to the Hooper report Royal Mail claimed they had 229,000 employees in 2002. By the same measure, this had fallen to 178,430 in 2009. This is a loss of over 50,000 and constitutes a 22% decline.
In its 2002 annual report and accounts Royal Mail reported it was delivering 81m letters a day. In its 2009 Report and Accounts it said it was delivering 75 million letters a day. This is a decline of 7.4%.
In 7 years staffing levels have fallen 22% while the number of items Royal Mail reports it delivers every day has fallen 7.4%
That's without taking RMs creativity into account about how they count the mail.
Lies lies lies is all they feed us.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think it is time for CWU and CMA and Unite get together and go on strike together.
It will be only way to give Royal Mail head office a real headache.
If the managers are cracking up there is light in tunnel for us.
It is a shame we can't fire the boss as government only have the power.

Sure they are having a moan now but as soon as it `might` look like these lower to middle managers go out on strike Royal Fail will offer them more money and more perks and they will be back all hailing their master. :cfo

Manager1: Good on you. Like you I tried to stick to my principals but after 2 years of being a line manager I basically bottled it.
Those of you who are berating him, blindly categorising him into your stereotypical view of a manager and belittling the CMA/Unite's stance: Stand together now and sort out your differences afterwards. This CWU industrial action is unpopular with many of your customers particularly small businesses. CMA support will surely help increase popularity and put pressure on RM and the government. Remember you are up against a well-oiled publicity machine from the government and a reasonably well-oiled publicity machine from RM.

Re: Managers union now involved, it gets better!!
Managers job will start to go when they start merging the mail centres. The managers at the delivery offices could be safe in their jobs, this depends on whether delivery offices close or merge. All I can say is those ex-posties that got lucky and ended-up has managers (you know who are you?) you just enjoy being managers for now because you have no chance of becoming a manager else where when RM makes you redundant. The Smoking Gnu wrote:Of course managers' jobs are on the line. If they take hours out of an office, they won't need as many managers. They're in the same boat as us posties, but they won't often admit it.barkersboy wrote:As a Royal Manager put it to me "If we do what senior management want then in future they would say 'well the business needs did not suffer in your absence so we could do without so many mangers' so my job would be on the line". How is that for putting on the pressure on "supportiive people in the business".
So come on you managers, let's see you out on the picket line. We'll save you an extra large sausage, straight from the barbie, just for you.
To go with your Chips And Beans.
