It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Dave & Billy
Having watched the live press conference - I was impressed with how the CWU presented the facts.
What will it take for RM senior management or the government to listen?

Re: Dave & Billy
There you have it, political full stop. A political decision was taken to privatise RM to let their fat cat benefactors cream off the profit. The first head on attempt got defeated. This dispute is being engineered to achieve privatisation by the back door ,but Mandy and Adam have been caught out yet again.
Mind you bearing in mind Mandy's pledge to work for the Tory's he does seem to have positioned himself well.
Smash the union and Mandy will be Gordons hero
Union triumph ,Gordons sunk and Cameron is ever so grateful to Mandy.
Bet Gordon rues the day he clasped that viper to his breast.
Bye

Re: Dave & Billy
Am I the only one worried ?
What's the win/win end state of this dispute ?
Make no mistake, aside from bluster and bravado, if there isn't a win win conclusion, I really fear for our future.
Only saving grace is the Tory loons are nailed on as the next Goverment.
Holy crap, hang on.....

no your not the only one worried. yesterday was very odd dave and billy did really well at the press conference, then royal mail goes on channel 4 news to say there was an agreement which they were still willing to sign but dave had been turned over by the EC, channel 4 says CWU was invited but didnt want to take part, then in the evening Radio 4 too says the union didnt want to be interviewed - so maybe there really was an agreement dave and billy were ready to sign ??? thats the story on the radio again this morning and yet again noone from the CWU wtf???

No there was never an agreement and the PEC didt reject an agreement. However over the last 3 to 4 weeks there have been a number of meetings where drafts were obvioulsy worked on, and on issues like re-engagement for those offices where executive action has taken place there was a form of words, We also discussed a framework for further talks on such issues as the future of deliveries, future of mail centres and network , a new reward package and MTSF issues.
Royal Mail sent over a draft yesterday to the cwu this was not an agreed draft albeit certain parts of it were agreed. However it was still work in progress and not an agreed document so there was no need to vote on it as it was not an agreement.
Then Mark HIgson sent over a letter which spelt out that he didt agree with the re-egagement part of what Royal Mail had agreed in the talks and you just cant do business like that. Our officer had spent since Friday moving that issue forward and then Higson basically vetos it.

Re: Dave & Billy
The thing is that RM is playing a superficial game and playing public opinion like a pro. Never ever accept anyone's public outpouring or position on face value, always look deeper into any subject you are interested in and you will be better informed and more confident in taking any action you personally think is justified.luckyllama wrote:just seems odd that RM is all over the TV and radio saying they will sign and the union is refusing all interviews??
RM and the CWU are both playing power games and jockeying for position and because of that they will both try to represent themselves in the best light possible, nothing wrong in that, its how the world works. However, both parties should at least discuss and if necessary compromise from a stance of mutual trust and in that RM fails singly. There has never been an agreement, it was a "form of words" on which the strikes could have been called off and talks progressed on the basis of the "form of words" agreed by both sides.
1 side scuppered this when they said they could not accept part of it (the imposed EA), and when the Union announced this all of a sudden the "Form of Words" became a full blown agreement. As I said you have to look deeper into the motivations of both sides. But IMHO the CWU have played this straight and RM have been playing mind games.
