Re: CWU Responds To Offer To Sign Agreement
There is NO point WHATSOEVER is delaying the inevitable by having another 8 friggin weeks of talks between CWU chiefs and RM back-room-boys who don't even represent the CEO and Mandy. They are taking the f***ing mick by not negotiating themselves and sending guys to talk who they end up ignoring and who probably have NO authority to agree to ANYTHING. The longer this runs the more the public will tire of it and see RM management are not even serious about a settlement. NOW is the time to emphasise we are willing to negotiate a fair deal - which they ARE NOT! The closer we get to XMAS the more the pressure will pile on.

To Headscrewedon. Do you really think that Royal Mail are going to negotiate. absolutely no chance. If we wait till the end of November we will have given them another 5 to 6 weeks to prepare, and also the public will have been aware and got their mail in early. Now is the time to push home our advantage and pile up the mail before the christmas rush so that they have no room to manouvre. Their delaying tactics are for one reason only and thats to further their preparations. Lets make these idiots beg us to go back to work.

As well he knowsfishtank wrote:headscrewedon wrote:Have you read any of the media articles on the internet regarding the proposed strikes ? Wherever there is a 'comment on this story' or 'leave feedback' option, the comments by the general public are very anti the strike action ALREADY. And that's about national strikes that haven't even started yet, and which are taking place TWO MONTHS before Xmas. The purpose of striking is to secure an agreement. To exert the maximum pressure, you have to call it when it's most likely to be effective. If you're worried about the bad PR angle, perhaps we should have had strikes in the summer when it would have had no effect & not upset the public ?cackhill wrote:if we agreed to the agreement then renaged on it as you suggest so we went out right before xmas how bad would we look and Royal Mail would jump allover that
Wich kind of pressure do you suggest
Public pressure and political pressure are one and the same thing.
Politicians will jump in whatever direction the public mood swings especially in the run up to a general election.
Industrial Action is a PR battle and breaking a No Strike Agreement would be PR suicide.

BBC News 24 on Freeview - Dave Ward on twice and loads of local reps from various depots have been interviewed , hardly CWU hiding as you inferred.luckyllama wrote:today is a PR disaster for the CWU with RM sayin they will sign the agreement reached with dave and billy and now cwu seems to be unavailable for any interview on radio or TV wtf??
But Mandelson his education is certainly lacking:
interfere - come between so as to be hindrance or obstacle; "Your talking interferes with my work!"
intervention - the act of intervening (as to mediate a dispute, etc.);
