UK Mail. sorry you were out cards
Knocked on a customers door today with a couple of parcels. she said that today a card was left by uk mail for her to collect a parcel. ( guess where from ? yes the other side of the world) well nottingham actually. but a little different than five minutes up the road. I wonder how long it will be before customers get fed up with that arrangement.
Oh and by the way, I have a safe place to leave any parcels with this customer, after all I have been delivering her mail for 18years.

Little things like that will be missed Debbie yes!
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.

Yeah, it may be a little thing to the postman but it is a very big thing to the customer.

My Post Lady is very considerate and helpful and always makes the effort to leave any parcels with neighbours. Thats very welcome and you wouldnt
get that service from a private courier. Trouble is the residential customers cant spend enough to keep Royal Mail afloat. Only high volume business customers can do that, but they are fleeing the post office in droves because it is unable to deliver their business customers goods reliably. Every time theres industrial ction by the CWU, the post office loses another 10% of its business customers, who will never return. Not because they are bloody minded but because postal strikes make it impossible for them to carry on supplying their customers and running their businesses. They are not idiots and they also have workers and their workers jobs and welfare to consider. Before you finally push the post office into bankruptcy and the inevitable enforced privatisation which will follow, you might want to give some thought to what other jobs are out there waiting for you. Right now there arent any.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: UK Mail. sorry you were out cards
I had a slightly odd experience today.
posted a handful of letters through a door, they hardly hit the floor and the door opened this guy justs looks at me.
i just give a nod.. he might be on his way out or anything but none of my business,
but its apparent he,s scowling at me!
"you didn't ring"
I had to think about this for a second.
" you only had letters today i don't generally ring".
He bends down and picks up a surcharge notice and says wheres my parcel?
penny drops! for me anyway
I says "thats not a parcel but a letter that didn't have anough stamps on it".
he says if i pay you the cash now can i have it now.
.
I'm quite offended! this guy has been reading the recent "notice left" articles in the press and thought he'd caught me failing to deliver a parcel.

Well it isn't you or the post office. I use UPS and DHL who shift 65-70 % of the UK courier traffic between them and they dont rely on anybody else to deliver it for them (or not).
