A Berkshire postal delivery office will shut later as part of The Royal Mail's modernisation plans.
The Caversham Road delivery office in Reading will be replaced by a new site in Gillette Way, which opens on Monday.
The move was part of the Royal Mail's bid to modernise its operation in the Thames Valley area, announced in September 2006, a spokeswoman said.
There would be no job losses and all delivery and collection staff would relocate to Gillette Way, she added.
"Any staff incurring additional travel costs as a result of the move will be reimbursed in line with business policy," she said.
"Any change to customers' deliveries will be minimal and a communication will be sent to them next week giving full details of the move and the new location."

I think the real clue is in the location of the main line railway station and the stated wish to have a terminal for the channel tunnel rail link to the west of London.........

It's quite sad really, Royal Mail have gone from a world leading postal service to a complete joke of a company desperate for help so it can survive. Why? Because of years of appalling under-qualified management and being used as the governments constantly raided personal piggy bank. What were the top brass doing 15 years ago when couriers started using PDAs for tracked parcels? Sitting on their golden paychecks counting their bonuses for the year - it's a national disgrace. :mfo :cfo
