Royal Mail's board only wants ONE winner - guess who?. Negotiations without power are not negotiations. Until the ballot result, every meeting between Royal Mail and the CWU took the form of a lecture on how the workforce will do what Royal Mail wants. We can now exert a consistent pressure (although maybe not to the neck as I perhaps unwisely suggested earlier) on Royal Mails board and actually turn them into negotiators instead of tyrants. The situation we are in as a workforce is slowly but surely being outlined in the media as more and more people speak out and journalists curiosity is aroused. This will no doubt increase the pressure for a solution to be found to the present impasse.

I am afraid that Lord Mandelson's attitude that if we are ridiculed enough by him we will go away, will backfire on him. Never have I seen or listened to so unbelievable a person, and I have watched a few over the years. The public do not trust him, his colleagues in the Labour Party (and the Conservative Party when he switches sides to cling onto a salary) do not trust him and most importantly I do not trust him.

so how is any dispute ended.... by negotiation. Isnt that what Billy has been calling for, for acas to get involved. would be a good thing if they were.

I see your quite new on here ....it would be a good idear for you to scan some of the threads for the facts...and educate yourself.

Career prospects? Get real! People can't even get a full time contract let alone a career prospect. Are you a little bit worried that you are going to have to work much harder come Thursday or Friday - you are going to blink first - especially with the "30,000 vetted recruits" - you'll spend more time on the phone than on your backside.

I apologise oanda - I assumed you knew what you were talking about - you see these "negotiations" are merely a one stop shop for RMs vision for the future without any discussion and the industrial action has been ongoing since March - you see some people will not listen they assume they are always right. I feel sure you will be familiar with that scenario.
