realistic upper levels need to be set for miles walked ,number of drops etc and delivery total weight limits no more horror story's of 8- 9-10 pouch deliveries

It could be done fairly easily with Pegasus and repeated test walking. There are levels for no. of drops, gradient, walkspeed etc etc in Pegasus it just needs to be programmed in an intelligent but consistent way.

I have 9 bags a day, with 2-3 packet sacks oversized ones etc, in fact most of the issues raised here I deal with daily, comforting on one level to find that it isn't just our office, I knock on at least 20 doors a day due to increasing packet growth which is never mentioned by RM when they spout about falling mail levels.

Modernisation is a joke we are still tipping bags some days not processed from the mail centre, the large flat sorting machine must mis-sort 10% in every box I recieve, now absorbtion in the winter which seems to have been slipped in, I thought it was only mean't to be in the summer period, which although lighter in weight doesn't mean you walk any less distance and with late start times that is often in the blistering heat, or drenched in persistent showers with no light jacket waterproof provided. "Only mad dogs and Englishmen and UK Postmen go out in the midday sun!"

As for what I want from the strike, would prefer work to rule over strike but that is another story, but I would like to see better coordination with staff and managment and the union when changes are implemented, I would like to see the company run as a public service not for mass profits to line the pockets of a select few at the top to gain more in one year's bonus than a postie will earn in his lifetime and wonder where all the money is going!

I would like the goverment to stand by the pension and take on the deficit in recognition for taking the coffers for 13 years when we had a 'pension holiday', as they would do if they managed to find a buyer for RM.

I'd like recognition of what my job actually entails with realistic expectations of a human being and not one of an expendable donkey.

Not interested in a payrise but I am very unhappy with having to cover people when they ring in sick or are on holiday this is not my problem.It's not an easy job physically on the ground but can be an enjoyable and rewarding one, I would like to get back to feeling valued, and feeling I provide a valuable service to my regular customers.

Sadly though none of this will happen, the media have an agenda as do the government, the managment already announcing double the temporary staff to cover strike backlog, they will string it out with christmas coming soon pulling at the heartstrings about our kids christmas being ruined etc, keeping up pressure until weight of public opinion becomes hostile and we feel it in our pockets over a prolonged period, and people inevitably drift back to work.

Almost brought me back to the work to rule over strike....

Well where do you start? I am a network driver at ndc Daventry, what I want to gain from this strike is, our seniority given back to us, resigns and not 'out the hat' allocation , bullying and harassment by senior managers to cease, dignity and respect to ALL drivers, then perhaps I will be proud and happy to work for royal mail like I used to be, because at the moment we are getting ripped to shreds by the media and press, to such a extent, that I do not want to be seen in public wearing uniform ! What a thing to say after over 20 years service, I still enjoy the job, its just all the politics, bullshit and crap that spoil it. I say to senior rm managers, leave us alone and we WILL deliver

Hopefully Get a shorter working week and an easier workload! No had a saturday off in ages pure mince!!!
