He was a complete disgrace,if I had not known different I would have sworn he was a Tory.One sidede speech on how we wont change,go home early etc. It may as well have been Crozier up there.He went on and on about calling off strikes and negotiating.Also ACAS would only be any good if strikes were called off.Skinner then got up and said it takes two sides and he knows whose side he is on.
To their credit many labour m.p.'s got up and told him to get the management properly involved.

Think your right Daz. It's only to be expected that this useless government , and indeed politicians from all sides would side with RM management. Politicians have recently been caught with their noses in the trough, it's no surprise that they would protect Crozier, Higson et al. Just wish the focus would change a bit. Hopefully in the case of Mandelson, people see him for the sleazebag he is and can't respect a man that's been sacked countless times. Remember," if HE can come back WE can come back!".

Postal Strike

Asked if the Prime Minister was going to try to prevent the postal strike from going ahead, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was following this situation closely and was concerned about what effect this could have on the customers. Lord Mandelson and Pat McFadden were involved in this issue and had both encouraged the two sides to come together to try and stop the strike from going ahead.

Asked if the Prime Minister would intervene, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had full confidence that Lord Mandelson and Pat McFadden were doing what was necessary at this stage.

Asked if that meant that the Prime Minister would get personally involved at a later stage, the PMS said that this was a fast moving situation and the Prime Minister was being closely briefed on what was happening. The Prime Minister felt that the sooner the two sides got together and sorted it out, the better.

Put that the union did not see Lord Mandelson as neutral because he was in favour of privatisation, the PMS said that Lord Mandelson had previously expressed views on privatisation but was completely focused on ensuring that this strike was avoided.

I have no confidence in this government. Though, I do have confidence that the dark lord will become ever more laothed as time goes by. As for that Pat McFadden, not even his own Parliamentary Private Secretary, Jim McGovern, had confidence in him, as he resigned over plans to part-privatise the Royal Mail; plans which were being drawn up without his prior knowledge!
