Strike FAQ - for journalists and the like
The attatched list of ' Frequently Asked Questions' should provide plenty of the details behind why this strike is so necessary and so well supported by the workforce.
Thanks for your understanding.
P.S. Mandelson says 60% of the workforce didn't vote for this strike. Can someone tell him 75% of registered voters didn't vote for Labour in 2005. If he has a valid mandate then so do the CWU.

Re: Strike FAQ - for journalists and the like
I think I have missed something here. What does this great post achieve on some obscure site as rubbishmail. This FAQ post should be bombarding every MP Newspapers and news suppliers (reuters ect). If the media wont take this as a response to Mandelson/Royal Mail then the whole population is being deprived of honest and debatable options. There is the problem, to many outside opportunists who have no idea about any employers actual activities in their companies. Too much interest in their own stocks and shares believing everything the board of companies say. Are there any really any investigative reporters out there that are honest and do the real spade work to find the truth? I doubt it but I go back, this post should be bombarde on every media possible, ONE responsible multi national organisation might just be honest enough to report the facts or at leat investigate the post.

Re: Strike FAQ - for journalists and the like
So far it's been sent to Morning Star and they are doing a bit on Thursday using it but apart from that just here. If anyone knows who to send it to at the press feel free. Was hoping it could be made into one of those viral emails like the Bushisms one which go around via everyones forward email button but don't know how to do it - just start sending it?

Re: Strike FAQ - for journalists and the like
Added an amusing little section on pay - it was missing a bit on pay.
Q. But you all want more money and the company can't afford it? Isn't that typical of strikers.
A. We and the union have never made demands for more money, infact most posties are actually happy with the pay they get. Pay agreements are a standard and annual union/employer talking point and next years award is therefore on the table as per usual. The union has accepted lower than asked for pay awards for the past 3 years so has shown itself to be flexible and realistic. But this dispute and this strike is in no-way about pay - it's about working conditions. To emphasise that, we accepted a pay freeze, like many others did this year, without an objection. What we would like is a genuine and fair 'profit-share' scheme which means we are insentivised to work more efficiently, and we also quite rightly share in the successes of our company - surely a sign of good intent and a progressive workforce! We have actually had 'productivity schemes' in every office for a number of years, but in the past two years the company told each office what it was saving each month, 'banked it' for us, encouraged us to work harder, then at year-end said the money had to be absorbed back into the buisness and we got nothing!! So after working harder than ever each month and watching 'our savings' acrue we ended up denied our own money with no explanation other than the funds had been 're-absorbed'! That occured nationwide for 2 years running and is typical of the 'couldn't care less about you' attitude of Royal Mail upper management towards it's workforce - what it frequently calls 'Our People'. The only bonus we ever get now is at ultra-busy Christmas time when the company make a total fortune from us slaving away - 10hours without a break is not uncommon. 250quid plus a sheet of stamps and a cheap insincere looking little card from the CEO! Whoopy do! Believe it or not some years back instead of the stamps some postmen remember getting a few packets of horticultural seeds at Xmas. On close examination they were found to be long past their sell-by date
THAT SHOULD READ 100QUID XMAS BONUS :cfo
