Re: Postal workers face swine flu dilemma, claims union
I've got a cold/flu at the moment, it started on Monday, managed to get through yesterday(just) and today was my day off. Just been on the NHS direct website and done the online symptom checker, at the end it said I've to call the National Pandemic Fluline Service
I've no option but to go into work, I've just had another Stage 3 and can't risk losing my job again. I feel really bad about it and selfish, I don't want to pass it onto anybody(there are exceptions of course)

Just think of all those people not on a stage 2 who can catch the 'flu' and take time off to recover properly.

Thanks for that, just phoned a mate who is a LM to get some advice, he said I should go in because of my Stages.Geezer wrote:RM Swine Flu Advice Here

Re: Postal workers face swine flu dilemma, claims union
I feel sorry for you Stormproof i am on my third week off after being diagnosed with H1N1 and i am back to the doctors tomorrow. RM are giving people on stage 2 no option but to go into work if they have H1N1 and i pointed this out before i was diagnosed myself and all i got was " our guidelines are to treat this as any other illness", " there will be no pandemic" " all stages will be issued" I believe RM are only one of the few big employers who are penalising their staff for contracting H1N1 and even someone from ATOS i was talking to was shocked when i told them RM are issuing stages.
If you are sent home ask for a letter giving the reasons, if you are prescribed Tamiflu keep the packaging as evidence, when you have your return to work ask them to write H1N1 as the reason for you absence although they will try and write "Flu like symptoms" a guy at work refused to sign his return because of this but it didn't stop him getting a stage 2
I am 99.9% certain i will get a stage when i return thats why i am going to make sure i am 100% fit before i do plus i know who is reading this
Good luck

Update
I did go into work last week even though NHS direct has diagnosed swine flu. I felt fine on Friday but by Saturday I was feeling sick again all day. Spent all weekend ill and can barely breath at the moment. I attended work yesterday morning but even after 5 mins there I felt I could'nt do anything, saw the Ass DOM and told him how I was feeling and asked him if there was any possibility that I can go sick using my A/L, he said no. Text my rep who phoned me back later, he had got into a bit of a row the Ass DOM over this. He told me to go and get some one to collect my tamiflu prescription, take them and get better and we will deal with yet another stage 3 when I RTW. I hate RM's sick policy, I'm sick of being hassled due to illnesses beyond my control and I hate being accused of swinging the lead
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
