After 20 odd years being in the RM i was so angry with a big percentage of my so called workmates today
Out of an office of 190 people i can say that on friday at least 60-70 will attend, mostly the 'i can't afford it' reason.
Now some of these people are in the union, quite frankly they should not be in it.
The office is now split with a bad surge of feeling between those that will strike and those that are'nt.
I've personlly witnessed a few near fights today. Its just divide and conquer, just like the RM want
I really cannot stand the older guys that ive stood on a picket line in the past telling me that i'm wrong!
I realise there are people that cannot strike,i know it will be hard for people. But cant these people see what will happen if we lose this dispute

I am so glad that all these gutless posties that work during the strikes were not around during the WAR, can you imagine what sort of state this country would be in now with all these spineless people standing up to the germans, thank god we had men then with real balls, might seem a bit harsh but in my eyes the principles are the same, standing up to dictatorship whether in work or war,you should be proud to stand up & fight in whatever situation arises, it's morally wrong to not stand by your workmates, the old I can't afford it,none of us can. :no no

Unfortunately they depend on us to fight their wars wherever they may be, and then reap the rewards. Not satisfied with our sacrifices they grass us up at every opportunity too! :no no  :arrrghhh

Yeh, but in war...............you can die.

I don't think using that kind of comparison helps

If their worst fears come true & Royal Mail comes crashing down because of the strikes, there will be no jobs for Managers, strike breakers, Strikers, Quadrant or Romec staff. Do they think theyre gonna pay them if theres no work ?? Wake up - back the strikes, back your colleagues & if your a manager back your staff , everybodys future depends on this, dont hide behind those prepared to fight for a future rather than those who are not.

Ah but in many ways it could be considered worse.
The death of self respect ,the withering of the soul the loss of basic humanity, reduced to a cowering worthless supine apology of a man,a betrayer and turncoat never to be trusted and on and on until their dying day ,with no diminution over time. Sounds like a fate worse than death to me,to always have that stain that none will forget ,least of all themselves.
Just look them in the eye and see what happens, you know its true, can't imagine how they live with it :chuckle

That's shocking. Ours is around 150 staff, it runs pretty well and there are no real problems yet - but I know a good 95% will be on strike. The usual 4-5 will go in, that's it.

At least 80% of my office of around 60 people will be going in on friday, they say that the strikes of 2007 where around 90% of the office went on strike they say they were let down badly by the union who got nothing extra for us and sold us out after telling us to strike. They say its pointless as these strikes are just a mirror image of 2007

Yes you can compare it as the same,it's just that WAR is the extreme end of the scale the worst possible outcome, but the principles are the same fighting for something you believe strongly about, when the miners 1984 strikes hit there peak the violence was terrible, families to this day still do not speak to one another,it's about standing up for your rights as a human being whatever the situation.I for one am sick & tired of being dictated to, people being too scared to say anything to anyone without the threat of being sued or sacked etc, etc, we do live in a freedom of speech country, well for now at least until all this bloody hitlers try & stop us.I for one am still proud to be British for how ever long it lasts, self respect is what we all need other wise what is the point.

Your comparing Royal Mail managers to the Third Reich?

WW2 was fought to enable democracy and freedom of speech, If people don't agree with strike action then it is their right to do so. So many people here seem to think it is OK to bully and harass people into striking by pouring vitriol on every poster that has the audacity to disagree with them.

Its not on.

If people want to strike, that's up to them. If others wish to work, or pursue other avenues of protest i.e work to rule then that is also up to them.

Over 50% of my DO will be working on Friday.

Maybe that tells you something?
