Yeah worth getting, just means you can register and have tec.iosh (Institute of Safety and Health) after your name and i have also just registered with International Institute of Risk and Safety Management which gives me AIIRSM to use as well also they are waiving the registration fee for CWU H&S reps who get the TUC diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (tec.iosh).
Huntingdon is good as It's mainly CWU tutors.

I stood aside on the USR job earlier this year, as somebody else fancied a crack at it.
Have not done any courses at Huntingdon yet.
Might upset a ex member of Eastern 5 branch, if I do more than one course a year

99.9% of my time is delivery and associated indoor work.
Im due to go to 10 meetings a year as political officer but it ends up less due to my managers not giving me release every time.
On top of that this year ive missed four days of delivery due to a course, yep ive really missed out on lots on normal duty time havent I wranglered
How I can get a shock is beyond me,

a raw nerve seems to have been touched....remember this thread was about facility time and why, in some branches, favoured individuals get ridiculous paid release for meaningless courses or trips to various conferences/campaigns...whilst those that really do fight for the interests of members get marginalised or even shopped to the employer...
...if I were RM Ihierarchy I would want to curtail all excessive release and wasting of money by parasitical individuals who are not interested in doing work, union or non-union, of any kind....
...if I were CWU hierarchy I would want to do exactly the same....
...not that I am suggesting this about you Big Daz...just genuine observations in my neck of the woods over the last few years......

Wranglered perhaps Big Daz is getting pissed off is because, for reasons I understand, you are not happy with the CWU and a branch in particular no problem there you are allowed to be. But you do seem to take every opportunity to run that branch and the CWU down and sometimes it appears as though you have personal digs at members of that branch. Postman has spoken to you about if before, and probably me as well, and when he does you go quiet for a while.
Perhaps the subject about how badly the branch handled you should be put behind you and this forum, particularly if you have left and have no intention of returning. It does sound if you are using the experience in your new career and if so well done, but surely there is a point when looking back becomes futile and self defeating.

If your not suggesting that about me, which would be impossible anyway considering my facilty time is to attend CWU meetings with any and all work expected of me as political officer to be done in my own time which i do at home with my on PC and printer and electric then why the following comment?

Tell me how a slight increase will be a shock? I ve 18 years experience of delivery and ive no plans to submit nomnation forms for any union role attracting FULL release.
As soon as my new sub rep can get some experience built up and some training (postal agreements course/union skills 1 would be ideal) I can stand down once and for as local rep for my D.O
Ive tried twice already but I came back to the CWU in its hour of need!!!

this forum is about opinions and I am as entitled as anyone to express them..especially when they are true!
I am now helping members who the CWU have abandoned and continue to abandon...it just happens that my ex branch are particularly guilty of letting members down...
...I also know from many other members nationwide that their experiences are the same as mine....
....do not be under any illusion....this potential strike is really about the CWU hierarchy surviving and not about helping the rank and file....a fudge is in the offing, rest assured...
...what turns my stomach is that big daz sounds off as though he is in it for the members, yet is the first out of the blocks to conference, environmental reps courses etc....but when it comes to the hard stuff, doing the job of an IR rep PROPERLY he throws the towel in!!!!
..what makes it even funnier is that I am now watching an official from my ex branch spouting off on GMTV when in the last dispute he told members to STOP doing the job properly!!!
...if anyone on this forum needs proper representation in employment tribunals or benefits issues, please feel free to contact me.....I am 100% cheaper than a lawyer, but WILL represent you and not use every excuse in the book to turn you down......I have a particular specialism in trade union related discrimination!!!!!

What often gets overlooked as well, is that according to the CWU Health and Safety Representation and Consultation in Royal Mail Agreement Area Health and Safety Representatives are the legally accredited Safety Representatives as determined by the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations (SRSC) 1977 (as amended by the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1992).

Wow I do not wish to be the local IR rep woopydo , did not realise it was compolsoury, dont think to ask if I might take on sub rep role if as and when somebody want to be the main IR rep, so sorry for standing down as safety rep when a paid up members asks if he can take over. So sorry that I put back in for the role of main IR rep when nobody else steps up to fill it, would you rather I stayed as a rank and file mbr at local level, if you thats your preference please say so!!!
If you have some magic secret that gets mbrs to become reps please say so.
Taking on sub rep role I would have no issues with, It maintains something I want to see and thats every rep position in the D.O filled.
First out of the blocks eh, more uneducated garbage from you, Ive been once thats right once to conference and that was purley for 3 days for the postal section. I could have gone this year but did not, im entitled to go next year but its by no means certain that I will choose to go. Why dont you start slagging off others on this site who have been to conference far more than I ever have and will ever do
I know they are not part of your former branch , the branch were you belive everybody who is a rep/officer has a different opinion from you on the running of the branch is responsible for all kinds of evils. Perhaps you simply have the hump about mobile phone bills, something I HAVE NEVER CLAIMED FOR , CAN YOU SAY THE SAME????
Im so sorry for exercising my right to apply to go on a CWU course, you might not agree with the need of that course, which is fair enough but please dont slag off those who went on it , especially as RML and BT bore the brunt of the overall cost, in fact I would say BT rather than RML bore the brunt of the cost involved by paying the wages of safety reps at all levels local, area and regional who were the majority on the course. As for the etc etc perhaps you can enlighten me as to what that is and the issues you have?
