Re: 30,000 is good news
If there not going to deliver what are they going to do ? prep rounds ? So when we return to work we will be expected to go straight out on delivery, eh dont make much sense to me
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: 30,000 is good news
clearly royal mail are prepared to try every lowest trick (behaving like a divorce solicitor)and royal mail obviously have had good legal advice to follow this.rather than engage the staff they are prepared to pay expensive solicitors ,job agencies and consultants.strangely we have complete silence from the chief executive and a publictiy shy chairman but they must be operating from a govt remit.i now think the cwu have to attack this and up the anti, mention specific bully and harassment cases,h&s issues.highlight the concerns that posties have for later deliveries(not small business friendly) and really push the fact. also the cwu have when given the chance negotiated change ,but it is impossible to deal with such a dictatorial employer.as for 30,000 im certain that they will be more than 40% innefficient but wouldnt surprise me if they are paid 25% less(warning sign there).

Actually its only 7500 jobs as most of them will be on a part time ad hoc basis, not full time.

This caught my attention:
CWU officials said they believed the recruitment of temporary staff during a strike was illegal and they received backing from other union leaders.
"We will be looking at the legal side of this and we are calling on recruitment agencies to be aware of the law if they are asked to supply temporary workers to the Royal Mail," said one CWU official.
Regulations amended in 2007 state that an employment business may not supply a temporary worker to a hirer to replace an individual taking part in an official strike or any other official industrial dispute.

Re: 30,000 is good news
they had that B**gie 40 idiot on Hellmail with all these grandoise plans for a " cassie army " in mothballed places in 2007 - all p*** & wind . It'll be badly organizedScottishlass wrote:The managers are going to do the deliveries![]()
Suppose they really did take on 30,000 agency staff . Wage bill then doubles to £18 million A WEEK and thats on top of our wages. Funny how they have that much money handy to do that , as well as open outhouses and pay managers to "work" (Postman , any sign of that rolling around the floor laughing smiley ?) in other areas, paying travel expenses and accomodation. Part of their "contingency plan" I suppose
.
Some muppet obviously thinks its better to throw money around instead of investing in the staff they already have who know the job already. I mean £18 million divided by 120,000 staff is £150 a week EACH ! Multiply that by 9 weeks (its 9 weeks till Christmas on Friday) and that gives £1,350 for every single one of the 120,000 staff ! (£18 million x 9 weeks is £162,000 000). Funny how they say there is NO MONEY to give us a pay rise or bonus but they do have money to throw away just to get our backs up:cfo :mfo
At best it'll be Alpha sorting , there will be that many mistakes ; ultimately making more work and slowing things down , some managers won't fancy delivery very much and there'll be dumping going on & complaints

Re: 30,000 is good news
You will probably find the majority of casuals will be sorting packets and flats at sites currently used to circumvent the IA in areas of Scotland and London. It will usually arrive at your DO in sacks so you can take heart in that your local MC is not able to cope and is proof that the backlog exists.
If posties at DOs use the 2007-2009 Agreement properly you start at your proper time, maintain the minimum standard required on ips, knock the lapsing/absorption on the head by doing your delivery safely, overtime is voluntary so just do not volunteer, whether it be minutes or a whole day. If the DIM DOM attempts to discipline you for any reason take a colleague or Rep with you into any meeting with him. At the end of the meeting ask for a Grievance form, irrespective of whether you intend using it or not.
Any agency staff that turn up at DOs are subject to the same H&S rules etc as anyone else. If your DO is anything like mine there will not be enough Hi-Vis, cycle helmets, pouches etc, etc. Most importantly, IR and H&S Reps can inquire as to whether any agency staff using their own vehicles have the necessary insurance to carry mail etc. If not, wait until they have left the office, contact your local police station and report them.
Think positively, use the existing agreements and the law to your advantage for a change. Even if you are not sure, sound confident in front of the agency staff and your DIM DOM and they might just think twice!

Re: 30,000 is good news
We've had casuals in our (London) office for weeks. Total rubbish! Most can't even speak English. Do they really think the job is so easy that a guy from the street can do the job - why do we have coaches?? Casuals are garbage - work delivered to wrong address (they don't care - it's not their walk). Mail found littered over the street. 27A or 27B?? No, they can't understand this so chuck it all here. P739's - not a clue? I feel really sorry for the guys in the enquiry office over the next few weeks. Bring on the f***ing casuals if they honestly believe that it will work. Personally I will just sit back and laugh at the ineptitude of the managers and the casuals while Crozier et al think that they have solved the problem.
This is the idiocy we we are fighting against!

Re: 30,000 is good news
if they can afford to employ 30000 extra. it would be cheaper to have kept the staff that RM got rid of. then we wouldn/t be doing lapsing . or trying to get sorting done on time etc!!. what great bosses we have paying them for this & there bonuses
