Why did newsnight on thursday show clips of the miners fighting with the police? Gives me the impression they gave was we our going to have running battles with the police ?

Time to brush up on anti-kettling tactics? Maybe if we all put on out HI-Vis vests we could dazzle them into submission? Let's face it were not built like miners so reckon they would win, best to keep it peaceful!!!

They would only get involved if we started threatening strike breakers and the casuals. We won't need to do that as the service will be on it's knees regardless.

kettling is what the police have been doing on protests recently - surroundingsomerset wrote:opgpat wrote:Time to brush up on anti-kettling tactics? Excuse my ignorrance but what is that all about?
the protestors and keeping them enclosed for hours without food, water or toilet
facilities. Caused controversy after an Evening Standard paper seller died after
being batonned during a kettling at the G8 Summit protests this summer.

We should up the antics instead of a 2 day strike between MC/DO's make it 4 days 2 days MC 2 days DO's play them at their own game

Kettling is a relatively new, usually Met. practice of hearding protesters into a tight space and simply holding them there for anything upto 8hours until their fight is gone and they want to go home. That's what they did recently in London. The courts are working through cases as it is defo against your human rights to be detained enmass on no charge. First time they did it in London few years ago a load a Japanese tourists got caught up and stuck all day alongside climate protesters. No access to toilets in this situ so take a bottle.
One tactic is to keep moving but you might also need to break through police lines. Cycle helmet reccomended.

RM are breaking the law if they take on any agency etc.workers during the strike. The CWU have a legitimate right to take RM to court over this.

Crozier is claiming the casual/agency staff are being taken on to clear the backlogterrace wrote:RM are breaking the law if they take on any agency etc.workers during the strike. The CWU have a legitimate right to take RM to court over this.
and not to do strikers work, which would be unlawful. :cfo
But it's unlikely the Courts would support the CWU.

Temps? Well, that's another problem for first line managers.
Hope they enjoy the Christmas pressure with all those untrained souls dumping the mail all over the place and then having to explain to customers why their cards ended up in a skip or the canal!
Sad, isn't it? This is the Labour government we all hoped would put thise sort of thing right. I fear Labour will lose the election not by what the Tories are promising but more what the Labour party are promising. Bye,bye Labour from a life long supporter who might as well vote for the Greens or even the Fairies

Right on,not only can many speak or read little English they have no idea of English Decencey, like if they need a call of nature whilst out delivering ,last dispute someof these did it in the middle of the street in full veiw of every one, might be OK in Poland but not the uk.Or leaving mail bags by the side of the road whilst delivering elsewhere, another factjaja wrote:Can you imagine the chaos & all missorts for us all to sort out....some of these temp workers can't read englishmdlmrk wrote:hope they aint like the one who delivers to my house, all the streets mail through my box.f*****g useless !
