From 5 live regarding an interview as they say Royal Mail are going to announce tomorrow the recruitment of 30 000 additional casuals to work in the lead up to christmas. We are in a war and must now hit them hard not just next week but name a number of dates for action over the next few weeks.

Tell the public to expect more of their post to go missing. Par for the course with the morons that are in charge of this company. Surely a much better course of action would be to accept the offer of arbitration and get this sorted out. They really do have such a condescending attitude to its frontline "people". Its such a shame as there really is available a succesful Royal Mail for all concerned, if only they would learn to value take the workforce with them rather than confront and dictate to us at every turn

When I walked through the MC yesterday I noticed they've already taken some casuals on, Manpower on the hi-vis's. When I left the DO today everything was beginning to be locked up for the weekend and hardly any RM staff about, the only ones working were the casuals, apparently they've been about all week, someone said they are being trained up for Thursday

Casuals have no long-term commitment to the job or the customer and it's such a hard job they will take any short-cuts they can.

They have not built up the relationships with the customers that regular postmen have and simply wont care about the people they deliver to or their mails security.

A casual workforce will do a casual job and mail will be stolen or dumped enmass leading up to Xmas.
