Unite/CMA Letter

Post by Geezer »

Please find attached letters from UNITE to members and reps.

You will note that the members one informs managers
Whilst Unite CMA members are not in dispute with Royal Mail, we should respect the right of CWU members to enter into dispute and take no actions that could transgress upon their dispute
Nice to see they've really taken that seriously!

Branches may wish to send the names of any managers acting outside the guidlines to the DGS (P) department.

AMICUS SECTION

Regional Secretaries

Dear Colleague

CWU Dispute

You will be aware that the CWU have announced that they are in dispute with Royal Mail and that this may result in strike action being undertaken by CWU members.

I can advise you that at this stage, our members are not in dispute with Royal Mail. We wrote to our members on the 3 September 2009 on the matter (copy attached). Clearly, as our members are not in dispute with Royal Mail then we are required to advise those members to work as normal.

We have also advised our members to respect the right of CWU members to enter into dispute and to take no actions that could transgress upon their dispute.

Also attached is a copy of the advice that the CWU give to their members who are not involved in a dispute.

Regretfully, there appear to be some elements that seek to deflect from the issues and to promote a dispute between Unite and the CWU by making various unsubstantiated allegations against our members.

We have a very good working relationship with the CWU at national level and there is a clear line of communication open between Dave Ward, CWU Deputy General Secretary and myself.

We have agreed that we will jointly investigate any allegations that could be substantiated.

To date, the CWU at national level, have raised no complaints against any of our members.

We can anticipate that Branches, Regional Committees, Regional Officers etc may receive model resolutions from various sources accusing Unite members of undermining the CWU dispute.

In such cases my advice is to refer any CWU member or representative to Dave Ward who, if he believes that there is a genuine issue of concern, may then raise the issue with me directly and we will jointly seek to resolve that issue.

We can anticipate that unless a quick resolution to the dispute is found, then it could result in a long drawn out and damaging one. We know that Royal Mail has already put into place contingency plans that include the opening up of alternative mail depots and are employing hundreds of casual staff on four month contracts.

Although Unite are not directly involved in this dispute, we stand ready to play our part in assisting both the CWU and Royal Mail to come to a speedy resolution to their present difficulties.

I trust that this will assist you.

Best wishes

Yours sincerely

Paul Reuter
National Officer

Sadly I think this will never happen. RM will keep the CMA and their members sweet with pensionable bonuses and the like as usual.

Kind of a white lie, didn't the London boys go to their HQ with a demo.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yes we met with Simpson and Ryter and we know Billy and Dave have spoken to them too. Plus the most disturbing thing is how Ryter tried to justify his members doing our work! He said it is normal for managers to take walks out and drive vans normally.

However if we are honest as much as I can have a go at them , some of our members have let us down by doing our work whilst we have been out on strike, which is even more shameful and unexpected.

How would you know they were on strike? The lazy turds hardly move all day as it is!
The Industrial Workers of the World. The union whose members never scab!
