NO ITS NOT -your colleague is talkin shite .
1) At your start time join your brave brothers & sisters on the picket line .
or
2)Just don't go in ! either way your pay will be docked but its worth it
or
3) Cross the line & suffer the consequences for the rest of your days
so i dont need to notify management that i am striking?
The procedure you have been told about is what we had to do few weeks back when we we took unofficial action - the wildcat strikes in scotland- since we turned up ready for work.
But the official action no you either join a picket line if there is one or dont go in at all
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Good for you mate! Your future and the future of your kids is what being in a union should be about. These have no idea.

We haven't had this London talk, and if they think I'd pay any attention to divisive shite intended to put a barrier between me and another worker from another part of this country, or another worker from any other country, they can just kiss my scouse proletarian arse.

the way i see it if you cross a picket line and you are a union member u better be off to another office after it maybe a few hundred miles away where no one knows you

Agree, do they realize/care what sort of a country & job chances they are leaving for their children.
I'm in similar position iceman2. Only 30 in our DO,about 6 union members. Everybody moans about lapsing and working overtime without getting paid, but they won't strike because they say a small office won't make any impact. I want to strike like i did in 2007 but will 1 person out of 30 make any impact? it didn't in 2007! I don't know what to do.

Every single person who breaks a strike weakens it for their colleagues. OK 1 office going out will in the Grand Scheme of things will not make much that difference to the outcome of the strike but if every office due to strike had the best possible turnout they could get, it would certainly make our case stronger, even if that does mean only 1 person in an office refused to work.

First of all , you have my sympathy..!! Secondly , what about the other 5 CWU members...? Are they not gonna strike with you...that would make a big difference if they did..! If the 6 of you were to stand at the gate in a picket-line, it may just guilt some other staff into staying out or even joining the Union in time for the strike dates to come...? ! It's easy for them to go into work during official IA when there's no-one at the gate,a bit more difficult when their fellow workers are making a stand...!! Keep yourself and conscious in the right and strike and put the rest to SHAME...!
im sorry but 2 weeks ago most of my office including me went home with a pay of 178 pounds with rent to pay council tax and other bills its bloody hard but its got to be done

I'll try and get other 5 members to stay off but i feel it should be up to our rep to organise a rota or something....anything!!! I had a few comments of "told you you were wasting your time" in 2007 but at least i tried and could sleep with a clear concience. Had quite a lot of support from customers too, even £20 from someone to help with loss of pay.
Even if I disagreed with the strike or if I was desperate for the money, whatever the circumstances, I just dont think I could bring myself to walk through the picket line, past my mates making the sacrifice, look them in the eye and go to work. Maybe its just the way I was brought up, but round here you cant get much lower than a blackleg.
Youve obviously already mind your mind up, and I admire your honesty at least. Good luck to you, you'll need it.
