Customers will get their mail delivered still, they will just use other means.
I had a chat to a postal work a while back, who let me know about all the spanish practices that used to go on. If any of those are still continuing today, then as a customer, I support Management in removing them. From some of the research I have done today, it seems they are. How about the easy rounds dished out by seniority that can be done in half a shift so people can do two rounds and be paid twice for a days work? Has this sort of guff (that I was told about those sort of things by a postman) been stamped out?
Are workers still getting paid for "rest days"? As a customer who works for a living, someone please explain to me why the cost of stamps should be inflated by people being be paid for doing nothing?
We must have modernisation, and use of technology, and the workers cannot hold strikes over the head of management to force them to be given the benefits of cost savings.
The royal mail must be competitive and cost effective and profitable.
I hate to say it, as I treasure the Royal Mail, but if it cannot be allowed to modernise by the unions, it deserves to go the way of the British Leyland.
If the unions destroy the Royal Mail, the public will never forgive them.
The quality of the postal service has declined massively over the decades, and the cost of stamps has soared. The public has noticed, and is not impressed.
Give us early morning first post. Stop dumping "sorry you were out cards" when the customers are in.
Its just not acceptable.
I think your questions regarding the once early morning delivery should be passed on to those responsible for its demise. As for the rest of your out of date, ill-informed opinions, I'll bet you still wear flares and a tank top.
