Perhaps the leadership are under the impression that Saturday really is a shorter day as per the agreement rather than an ordinary working day which is the norm now - because DSA which used to be mailsort and not delivered is now classed as 1st class mail and is delivered.


Should have been Saturday and Monday if we're using the same tactics as last time.

I'm afraid the union only care about London, i've come to this conclusion now. Edinburgh had problems when our office went out on unofficial action, the same will happen again. Everyone out, no problems.

There aint 60,000 people in Royal Mail London is there?

If a DO is in same building as a MC you will be out the same day (probably the day of the MC action), as it was last time we took action - simple as that.

As for Saturday, not everyone has a shorter day but a lot do (despite every Sat being busy these days), and yes it will be hammered but everyone should use their brains and just work the hours they are paid to do - very simple really.... No wonder RM can take the piss out of us when a lot of people are questioning such simple logic.
Having said that I would have thought something along the lines of this might do the trick - MCs out Fri, DOs Sat and Mon, MCs out Mon too. Everyone back in Tuesday, which for some DOs is a shorter day; work your hours that day.

The action that the PEC have agreed is the right action and will cause a backlog. Remember when network goes out nothing moves and when mail centres go out nothing moves, so the backlog is built and with regards to the Saturday the work still wont be processed in time.

Now with regards to the PEC they didt finish until after 10 last night due to the debates over the right course of action.The Officers were orginally calling for next monday the first available date but most divisonal reps argued that it was not the right day as most mail centres do not have an early shift in on one Mondays.

The document which then was put suggusted Friday 23rd.

There was a number of amendments not only on the letter to Higson but also on action ranging from a 48 hour dispute to rolling action over 3 days.

However as Tuesday is not a great day to start a dispute due to it being the lightest traffic day then it was always going to be the backend of the week. The only doubt on the rolling action which works was could we keep it legal by taking mail centres and network out on different days. The PEC thought not so thats why we have two days rolling.

As someone who has taken a lot of action i know rolling days are the most effective and thats why its needs to be supported.

So in future can we only give them 7 days notice and not nine!.

Ok there ain't 60,000 people London, rolling strikes doesn't suit everyone in the country plus how many people postman are going to cross the official picket line. Not many leading to unofficial action. This is my point. I don't know if London posties have to go to mail centres to get petrol, missorts etc. In Edinburgh this is going to happen leading to unofficial strike action. Maybe all over Scotland, part of England too. Thats why two day strike is my preferred option. Thursday/Friday would be my action days.
Rolling strikes will only lead to more problems.

Standing down picket lines to let other functions through is not for me, we voted as one we should go out as one.

We had this in 07 there were the odd problems with different functions going out but we got through it.
Rolling strikes worked big time,all out does not have the same effect,we want max effect and rolling does that.

R3 spot on rollig days rubbish/going through picket lines rubbish/all out fri/mon complete overtime ban,seen it last time pure rubbish watch now for 30 min flex and wildcat strikes and B/H big time.
