Ronnie, I'm not saying all managers are scum and @rseoles but when they take pleasure in driving 600s and vans past us on the picket line and let us know it, when they spread lies about the company, when they pick on the weak willed knowing these people won't stand up to them, when they put people on stages even for something like an accident at work, cancer and heart attacks knowing that if they are dismissed it will take months for a hearing and are willing to take a chance on getting a result and when after getting their bonuses you can hear them walking behind you singing we're in the money what the hell are we meant to think of them.

Ronnie, could I politely ask why you and your fellow managers bully and harass posties into not claiming overtime that they've legitimately worked ?
Could I also politely ask why you and your fellow managers seize upon the flimsiest of pretexts to fire posties, and if you replace them at all, replace them with part-timers ?

This isn't really getting us anywhere is it? I believe that we all have opinions on what problems there are in the business and, as I said in my earlier post, I don't know what the answer is, I really don't. As for 'raking it in', I don't understand. Yes, I probably earn more than you and may get a bigger bonus and so would you if you were in my position, that doesn't make me a bad person, does it? As for bullying and harassing posties, I said I was a manager, I didn't say I still worked in Ops ! We can all pick fault and find examples of good or bad, what about the postie who lives a few doors down from me who allegedly sick but goes off each day to play golf, what about another postie who lives around the corner who delights in telling me that he is off sick because 'I'm still owed a few days'. There are good and bad everywhere, all I'm saying is don't tar all managers with the same brush and perhaps some will reciprocate.

For what it's worth I really am a manager not connected to Ops or with any other involvement in this dispute, I'm just trying to get a handle on what's going on so I can decide what to do. Based on the vitriol on this board towards people like myself and the complete lack of trust shown I'll leave it at that. I've spent my entire working life in this company and am saddened that some of my 'colleagues' have developed such mistrust and bad feeling towards people like me. I'm trying to empathise but if this is the way you respond then I'll leave you to it.

Do you not think that we're only reacting this way because we're totally fed up with all the B&H we now have to go through or the constant attacks on our ability to actually do our jobs (constantly told we're too slow even though the duties are not timed and even if they are those results are just ignored). I could do the old 'why don't you come out on my delivery and then you'll understand' but I really wouldn't want to cause any damage to you because you'd end up being out on delivery for 6 hours

Only 6 hours? That doesn't seem so bad. When I first started in this job I did an early round then did telegram duties until 5 pm then worked in the sorting office until 8 or 9 then slept in the office until the next morning - 5 days per week. I've also had other posts involving working through the night and other posts involving 14 hour days. Over christmas I was out on delivery for 8/9 hours (primarily because I didn't know where I was !).

Did you read me email ? Could you point out where I said I deserved a bigger bonus than you? All you are doing now is reinforcing what I said in my last email. Why do you feel the need to attack me because I earn more money than you? You seem to think that because you are a postman that nobody else in the business has any value. there are no set times for pushing a pen ronnie6 you have to realise many are well pi&&ed off at royal fail and it's inept management when diktat is the way it's forced on the workforce they are totaly undervalued ...yes it's time crazier and his bunch of cohorts were ousted and managers replaced with ones who really want to see royal mail thrive with a workforce that can once again be proud of the company and things done with the workers behind them
