Training causals ready for strikes?

We have a large amount of casuals coming in for interviews today.Also we have acting managers being trained in how to become trainers themselves,supposedly so that casuals can "help out" regular mech staff to run IMPS and LSMs during Christmas??!
Just a coincidence,bearing in mind the strikes on thurday?I'll let you decide!

I believe it to be part of legislation that any new employee should be fully briefed in Health & Safety procedure within an hour of starting a new emloyment and that will include safe lifting and handling practice.

I think it is now required to be certificated to be able to give L&H tuition.

Lets hope that there are no cutting of corners.

It looks like Royal Mail don't want to talk. And there's going to be a strike no matter what. So its going to be a long road ahead for us all.

i'm aware of that mate,and ive seen these H/S tours,but im talking about showing casuals how to OPERATE IMP/LSM sorters,while the main feed of the machines are worked by a normal MECH operator(or manager?!).

On the other hand, it might be a ploy to cut back on overtime during the Christmas period.

Slightly off topic i know but i have applied for the xmas casual staff in belfast and ive been waiting on a reply for about 3-4 weeks now, does anyone when the belfast sorting office starts looking at applications for the casual staff?
