basically, they put ure hours needed on the wall, for next week and thats how many hours they want from u, u can say that i cant work so and so day, as u are busy, and they have to find some1 elses to replace u.they also might ring u up on the same day that they need cover - if someones sisck etc, but u are in no means forced to turn up or agree

Re: Nought hour contracts.
there are plenty in my office but the dims are paying them 40+ hours a week cos they dont know what to do with them.
in regards to how i would act around them, they really dont help themselves when one of the prats comes out with its about time they got rid of you full timers and got loads more part timers in here

Re: Nought hour contracts.
I,m no lawyer but i would suggest a nought hour contract is not a contract.
A contract has two sides.
in its most simple form
labour in exchange for cash
or
hours in exchange for an hourly rate.
more subtle is the ongoing provision of work in exchange for the regular availability of the worker.
ie i offer you a guarantee of a job but expect you to tun up daily.
what strikes me about the notion of a 0 hour contract is rm guarantee nothing and its difficult to see what they might expect in return
ie i don't think you could be disciplined for not turning up or being late.
As rm guarantee nothing it amounts to a cash in hand job.

the interesting bit is when somebody is not normally working just 1hr on a regular basis that's the grey bit that RM & their very expensive solicitors didn't get - The Tribunal Judge said a barely coherent jumble of contradictions , a lawyer's bonanza - yeah , that sounds about right for RM
Manager's perjuring themselves in court allegedly - well I never !
