Some will have lost less, as they may have been on holiday or days off during the action. Some will have lost more, as they may have lost overtime on the days they were out.

The average loss was around £500 for all 8 days out.

Everyone gained 6.9% over 2 years, which is around £20 per week, or £1,000 a year, for every year you have left in Royal Mail.

Every member gains from terms and conditions negotiated nationally, to local representation when needed.

Of course there will be those that the Union can't help, as you can't keep everyone happy all the time.

But you're all a damn sight better in than out

We also gained bullyboy managers who are on a crusade to force us to work to a set of times and figures generated by a bloody computer. An impossible set of times and figures might I add. I would happily give back my payrise to be treated with a lil more respect by my manager and not like a slave. It's not all about money.

After 30 years in the job and paying union fees I now realise where I went wrong. I joined the union. You know that useless lot of arseholes who negotiate my terms and conditions, give me backing when I'm fitted up by some nasty little manager and are currently trying to get a decent resolution to the mess RM management have got us in. What a mistake.I don't think. it's time some of you people got a dose of reality and maybe think about what the job would be like if there was no representation. You want to leave because it doesn't have an instant answer to your problems - well life's not like that. If you want to leave- then leave and good riddance to you. :wave

Well many moons ago we used to send kids down mines and up chimmneys, the employer used to send workers under moving machinery in wool mills of course the involvement of unions in the work place have stopped most unwanted work practices, most of the time we get a year on year increase in our wages and we also get some protection from over zelious managers who think they can treat staff like a work horse with no rights.
At the moment it all seems alittle hopless with many people saying what does your union do for you well this rep here takes alot of abuse from staff even when you could say thier conduct comes into question and you have stopped them from lossing thier job because they have been a little silly, sat with them when you know full well that they could be put on another stage but you have been smart and found a chink in the armour that you can get them of on,the times that i have sat there and seen someone on such a low because they have got family problems and they need a shoulder to cry on and what do we as reps get very little from the union that we work hard for,to look after the membership.
I read futher back stop paying your subs rip up all the agreements that have been put in place and see how long it takes before the pain in the arse managment get worse than they are at the moment.

I think local reps do a fantastic job. I really do. They are worth every penny. I think the higher Union men are the ones I find myself having a problem with. Hail to all the local reps! We love you!
