Suppose a strike is called for one day, what is to say they will let you back in the next day? If they do let you in the next day, it might only be on the proviso that you will work to management direction or you won't be coming back at all.
I dont think they can change the way of working if its official strike action and all rules are followed correctly.

Perhaps they can't change our way of working. However from past experience, Royal Mail will and can force whatever agreements they want onto us. One way or another.

Strike action can be effective we have proved that by the local disputes and the backlog which has built up. The most effective dispute is rolling strike action starting with network , then mail centres and then deliveries which means that we cause chaos across the week but cost our members just one days pay.

With regards to work to rules they dont work if they did then we would have all been doing the job properly as we have had enough campaigns already on it.
:Applause :Applause
Or in other words ,why aren't you doing the job properly already instead of cutting your own throats then blaming the union for your troubles. It's always someone else's fault , and "someone" should do something about that.
Rolling must be the smartest move. Anyone know how many days of rolling action it will take before the backlog chokes the pipeline? Maybe we need to concentrate our action at first to quickly bung up the system ,then continue with a less frequent but timed action to top up and maintain the backlog as and when.
Not much point in adopting a strategy that needs a planned program of action to be effective though if you abandon that program every time our less than trustworthy employer offers to "talk"

They did it at Rolls Royce some years ago. The strikers were allowed to return to work on the proviso that they signed new contracts of work, part of which was no further IA or strikes were allowed. No signing meant no job.

They then subsequently relocated the factory to West Sussex, presumably with no union challenge.

So you're damned if you sign, and damned if you don't. Let's hope RM haven't got that nasty little trick in mind.

I believe that continuous rolling strikes would work, ie-
monday Deliveries
tuesday Mail Centres
wednesday drivers
thursday mail centres
friday deliveries
saturday drivers

monday deliveries
tuesday drivers
wednesday mail centres
thursday mail centres
friday deliveries
saturday drivers

Or any variation, but we should be out on strike every day until there is a resolution! Also work to rule when we are in work. This would mean that we would lose only 2 days pay each week! These strikes should be announced tomorrow until xmas!

Financially this would be a great pain, but no pain,no gain.but i think we should start off with an all out 3 day strike on Thursday,Friday, and Saturday. Then on Monday start the 3 day rolling strikes, with abit of luck the high and mighty by then should be on there knees.Has anyone noticed in there packets we have packets from TNT,Business Post,DHL,why the fuk are we delivering there packets. :mfo :cfo :lfo ..We are the last of the miners ... So Lads , keep the faith.

the problem with 3 day rolling strikes is that you don't know who is supposed to be crossing the line and who is not, especially if you work on a site with a mail center and delivery office, things can get very confusing. ALL OUT!! Not bits here and there. I understand that the executives are trying to cause as little damage to our pay packets as possible but i would prefer ALL OUT one or two days a week, eg friday-saturday the first week and monday - tuesday the next week, members would only lose 2 days a week but this would cause max disruption

Employer rights, Trade Union rights and Employee rights are an absolute minefield to go into. Tread carefully as there are now so many areas that union members cannot be disciplined/expelled for in the eye of the law during an industrial dispute.

Traditionally, 'up to, and including strike action' implies the withdrawal of labour for 'x' number of days. There are ways and means of bolstering the proposed rolling one- or two-day actions without calling for specific 'work-to-rule' measures. I have listed two below which can be treated as 'reminders' and not requiring work-place meetings etc to put into practice. I feel sure that others can be added.

1. Reps can remind members that overtime is voluntary;

2. Reps can remind members to work within agreed health and safety parameters.

Each of these reminders will assist in maximising the disruption to mail without putting reps/members at any undue risk of being disciplined by over-zealous DOMs.

The best form action to attack management and we must remember this is what we must do.

Thursday - Distribution hubs/drivers
Friday - Mail centres
Saturday - Deliveries - this would kill managers to work late on a Saturday!

and keep repeating this action until an agreement is reached!
CUT OFF!!!

If you remember from 2007 a similar scenario was tried by CWU which resulted in our losing 3/4 days in one hit as RM did not calculate their week as Monday-Saturday for pay purposes.

Do you not think these clowns have not done their homework. Union busting is nothing new. They know all this and probably more.

I enquired weather we could go in for the 1st half of the morning then just go on strike from say 9 30 to 2 15 during the delivery times but apparently its not allowed.
