I'm not saying every single one of these agency staff will be looking out for a few quid with Christmas not too far off, but when people have absolutely no loyalty to the customers they serve (a bit like the scum currently running Royal Mail in that respect) the light fingered among them will see the opportunity to make hay while the sun shines.

You're not wrong IWW - we've seen it all before, light fingered, dumped mail, mail posted through the wrong letterboxes, failed redirections - Oh yes there's a treat in store for the managers right enough.

simply put = Agency workers have no vested interest in their current work location as they could be somewhere else next week and is lkely to dropped or hired at a short notice with no rights or recourse, as such they will act accordingly to whoever they work for at that time.

And it's in Agency/casual workers interests to take as long as possible
to do the work because they know that once it's cleared RM will have them
out of the door asap.

Maybe in Deliveries. But indoors, we've got several Agency, with over 6 years in!

In our unit the past 2 xmas have been disastrous for agency and casual workers. Brought in one day and sent home next day, even sent home after 2 hours work. Told by management that there was unsiffiecent work. These people want work to get them through the Xmas pressures on family budgets. To sign up for X amount of hours and then be sent home without pay isnt going to be condusive to re emlpoyment next Xmas. I undrstand that my unit is now having problems recruiting this year because people wont commit to royal mails past treatment. It is better to work for Tesco for three weeks at £6.? than work for royal mail forr 10 days at £?. Memories last longer than royal mail promises
