Another missed opportunity,i accept that the negotiations must be quite complex,however
Dave and Billy have let us down again,it's not like the yes result has come as a surprise to them,and
although when you only get 3 mins to sum it all up,you have to be more concise.
We have all made our reasons for voting quite clear,but that wasn't conveyed by either,and put
yourself in the shoes of the general public,who must be both bemused and very frustrated.

No subtitles on this news. But from looking at Dave Ward and Billy Haynes on TV. I wonder why Billy Haynes is top dog in CWU as it should someone better like Dave Ward. I have not seen any leadership voting in 4 years.

It could be that even though Billy Hayes is a ex-postal worker his job at the moment covers the whole CWU - Not just Royal Mail, but BT, Virgin, Call Centres etc. Where as Dave Ward is The DGS(P) Deputy GS (Postal) so his main focus is on Postal matters and for this reason he should be the main man for the media with Billy Backing him up. Billy is a very good speech maker (I have seen him a few times) just as good as Dave Ward IMHO, but in unprepared interviews he takes a little too long to get his points and views and sometimes seems to get ahead of himself. Whereas Dave Ward sometimes ignores the question and answers it with something else that's more important and more effective at getting our views across.

I think what we need is Dave Ward to stay where he is but for Billy to take a more supporting role than the leading role he wants. This is just my opinion though as both have skills we need at the moment to not get drowned out by the media bias.

Just because someone does not come over good on tv does not mean that they are not good at their job. Equally just as someone comes over good on tv does not mean they are good at their job.

I know both Billy and Dave and they both have good points and yes they also have bad points as we all do. Billy is a politcal animal and should not be underestimated anyone who has survived this long as GS and an operator is a fighter after all in the senior circles of the union there are loads of plots and sub plots, friendships made and soon lost.

Look at Billy and keggie great mates once then foes , look at Dave and keggie good mates then enemies. Billy and Dave use to get on famously as well but now well those in the know know.

So yes dave is better in front of the camera but Billy has a lot of power too.

Horses for courses then , cos his public appearances are not adding anything to our campaign. Surely such a capable political animal can recognise where his strengths lie . He doesn't appear to relish the task ,maybe it would be a relief if the pr people could sort out a trained spokesperson
