Give the Public a service - Yep thats Royal Mails job and guess how they do that.

1. Close 3,500 Post Offices.
2. Reduce the service at 1000s of others.
3. Allow the Government to withdraw some of the services you used to be able to get at POs.
4. Ceased Sunday Collections (now for anyone to get anything on Monday you need to send it before 1230 on Saturday.
5. Cancelled Bank Holiday Collections.
6. Cancelled 2nd Delivery
7. Made the 1st delivery later than the 2nd ever was.
8. Laid off 60,000 workers through various means.
9. Close delivery offices and amalgamate them into Super DOs on industrial estates miles from bus routes.
10. Bring in a complicated and expensive postage system. (Pricing in Proportion).
11. Increase handling fees for Import from £4 to £8.
12. Increase the surcharge of underpaid items to £1.
13. Increase stamp prices above inflation.
14. Agree a price with DSA competitors to use our network which means we subsidise them to the tune of 2p per item.
15. Take 5 years to spend half of the 1.2billion the government loaned them, but we are still yet to see the machines in use on a UK wide basis even though trials are going well according to RM.
16. Removing Mail cycles and replacing them with cars and then claiming they are doing everything to reduce carbon emissions.

But of course its the Union fault I must remember that

hi , this is my first post , regarding the stoppage of pay etc.etc. last November injured my hand tying up on the LSM ,i visited the gp and in severe pain he said i should refrain from work , i phoned in sick and within 3hrs had a answer phone msg from my shift manager saying he didnt accept my excuse and he was stopping my pay , My rep went to resourcing and had this reversed, because my sick lasted a few weeks thay stopped my pay for 6 days even though i provided medical certificates , which after a long process i recovered but not until march as they drew it out as long as they could ,however faced with employment tribunal they reinstated my lost pay 4 months after they had taken it.

Regarding absorbtion of work (for those in processing) , we now have the practice of not running the MTT , using the two staff who operate it to cover annual leave , lapsed duties which is around 10 per shift etc ,so we are allready absorbing that work, the mail which goes through the MTT is being processed through the LSM , incidently does anyone know about theirs, because our LSMs have been made 25% longer so there are 200 boxes instead of 160 and ontop of that we now have the MTT mail , so one person has to tie down 190 boxes and also retrieve the MTTs mail which comes out of the 5 boxes at the end.

These are the reasons i and many colleagues are making a stand , its not about money to me, what is a couple of % when im flogging on doing the work of two people anyway , "A FAIR DAYS WORK FOR A FAIR DAYS PAY" ... TWO DAYS WORK FOR A DAYS PAY" is becoming the norm in our place. Doesnt matter who or where you work either , everwhere there used to be 2 people working now has only one , has the volume dropped 50% i think not.

I work in an office where we are van sharing, absorbing, then they still came back for another 8% savings this year 140 hours, the problem we got is with our own staff, they come in early work throught their break and if finished early come back to office. How the hell do we stop these young kids mainly killing the job? they cant see if they run around that their reward is more work and redundancies
