madelin4.Test the water. Tell your DOM you don't have insurance to carry mail in your car. Ask him/her if she is prepared to take full responsibility if you have an accident or have mail stolen whilst working. If they say yes,ask for it in writing. THEN TELL THEM YOU'R NOT USING YOUR CAR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

USE IT OR LOSE IT (AND THE JOB THAT GOES WITH IT).
It might make life easier using your car but it won't help our fight to save jobs.

I will ask again to get a bike ordered in for me. The postition we face i see why i shud be using a bike.. ones say my walk is easy but with me using the bike wud be pushing me with regards to time like... Lets hope our action helps us all. :Applause

well done. . . . . exactly the kind of attitude that makes our campaign a complete waste of time . . . . . go on strike one day then go like the clappers for the next week to make up for the lost time, without getting paid any extra. Your DUM will be so proud of you I'm sure he'll give you some of his bonus. After all he's getting the same amount of work done for a days less pay. Let's hope the guy that does your job after you can't get it finished in time and ends up going down the conduct code coz he's obviously not working hard enough, nothing to do with him doing the job properly eh.

Attitudes like this are short sighted and the reason Royal Mail has got away with cutting too many hours from all our offices for so long. . . . . I hope for all our sakes people like you see reason before it's too late.

MADELIN4 you listen to peoples opinions and then make your own mind up, it's the right decision as I'm sure you know . . . . if only we had more like you . . . . . you go girl and best of luck to you, let us know what happens, we'll help all we can. :Applause :Applause :Applause

bite the bullet

Post by vigilante »

It's time we must bite the bullet and use this strike to work to our proper time,
No more cars, starting early, running around to get finished quicker etc.
It is hard because it goes against human nature, but we must learn to take meal reliefs and do the job properly.
this effectively is better than just striking it will mess the system right up they will have to re-consider if we all did it

absolutely right, we all like to get away early for 2nd jobs, childcare or hundreds of other reasons but it's time to get that mentality out, coz if we don't we'll be cutting corners and rushing around like headless chickens for ever more. All we want is a job that can be done in the proper working hours doing it the way it should be done, we're not saying we don't wanna work just not have to rush around, cutting corners and breaking the rules constantly.

Surely doing the job properly is exactly what the screws should be telling us to do, so how can they possibly have a go at us for doing exactly that.

I can appreciate there's people who'd like to get done before their due finish time and clear off early but all they're doing is giving the powers that be reason to cut hours.
If you can complete an 8 hour job in 6 hours they'll ask why should they pay you for 8 hours?
(there's a guy in my office that regularly saves 10+ hours a week)
How many other jobs are there where you do your bit and leave early? I'm struggling to think of one.
This is where laurel and hardy are getting their underworked and overpayed chant from.
Now as much as ever we need to do all we can to "protect our future"!
Take your break, weigh your bags, etc, etc.
Dont be complacent, this affects us all even the strike breakers out there, you're not untouchable!
Dont provide them with the rope to hang us all by!!

We have been told our strike dates by the union and I was out with everyone else. The use of cars is a personnal choice and I'm using mine as it suits me. :so there
