It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Today in our office, the DIM and his mate were going mental because so many people arrived back at the office too late to take out one of the lapsed walks. Unfortunately, the other walk which was lapsed was taken out by idiots along with their own walks in their cars. At least the DIM and his mate got nicely soaked taking out part of the walk which was left.

yesterday half of all our walk's cut off the average amount was 1/3rd of a walk. today i would bet every walk cut off. i only managed to get half way round before cutting off. weve got bosses taking out packet's in hired van's throwing of walk's and wondering how the hell the office got in such a mess. well the answer to that is easy. we've just stopped rushing about and do the job properly now. true we don't make any time at all out of it but ohhhhh how easy our lives are.POSTMAN wrote:Oh i wouldkwikpost wrote:lapsing started and stopped within 1 week at our office. we all do the job to the book so there's no time to do part of another walk. you wouldn't believe how much stress our bosses are under and how easy our lives now are.

But be carefull ,u see whats happening is , posties are catching themselves on now not running round ,taking there full breaks ,putting there seat belts on etc so of course thet are most probably going over there time .When the manager asks them why is it they are over there time all of a sudden ,to which the postie replys WELL IM DOING THE JOB PROPERLY NOW .To which the manager replys SO YOU WERNT DOING YOUR JOB CORRECTLY BEFORE ,hence discipline code for the postie .So may i suggest when manager asks you why the change you simply ask for your delivery to be timed END OF, dont try explaining why the change i hope i havent put any thoughts into anybodys head

I think they know already as to why but a little bullying and physiological intimidation will get them another bonus earned of a postman's/woman's back instead of getting off their ass and working.WHITEANT wrote:But be carefull ,u see whats happening is , posties are catching themselves on now not running round ,taking there full breaks ,putting there seat belts on etc so of course thet are most probably going over there time .When the manager asks them why is it they are over there time all of a sudden ,to which the postie replys WELL IM DOING THE JOB PROPERLY NOW .To which the manager replys SO YOU WERNT DOING YOUR JOB CORRECTLY BEFORE ,hence discipline code for the postie .So may i suggest when manager asks you why the change you simply ask for your delivery to be timed END OF, dont try explaining why the change i hope i havent put any thoughts into anybodys head:cfo

Re: All year lapsing
Now scuse me if i seem a tad thick after reading this thread, but am tired after another day at the cesspit so bear with me guys. My query is thus:
I am part time doing 29 hours a week hence I presume I do NO lapsin? is that what some are saying here?
Also We are told you must do lapsing before your own round as laid down in the rules then go on your round. In saome case, the lasping round is in the totaly oppo direction to your own and can take 15 mins to it, 20 mins lapsing and 15 back to pass go. This is a huge chunk of a round is it not?
We are also having to laps two rounds next week on Mon and Tues each so how legal is that one?

According to the Pay and Mod agreement all the above is OK in the eyes of RM, and the CWU. However, lapsing should only be performed when there is enough time in your duty to do it.Hugh_G_Rection wrote:Now scuse me if i seem a tad thick after reading this thread, but am tired after another day at the cesspit so bear with me guys. For everyone who does lapsing in any form and is not happy with it because they have to forgo breaks, rush round their own duty, use their own cars, or have to find their own transport to and from the lapsed duty, I have to ask the question why are you trying so hard to prove it can be done.
I agree with Royal Mail on one thing in that its not unreasonable for RM to expect me to work all my paid hours, however they can't expect more and they have to provide the tools for me to do the job in the manner they wish me to do it in. Start on time, claim docket if you want advise them if you can't complete in time either way, take your breaks and don't use you own cars, and most all don't rush round. Don't dawdle either, work hard and work safely and there is nothing they can do in good conscience.

Re: All year lapsing
Lapsing before your own round was NOT laid down in the rules, the agreement was the dom and rep should decide after the mail in whether their would be enough time to lapse, lapsing was agreed to be done on turn around, NOT by everyone in the office this is ONE of the areas that they have broken the agreement.Hugh_G_Rection wrote:Now scuse me if i seem a tad thick after reading this thread, but am tired after another day at the cesspit so bear with me guys. NO ONE should go over their time UNLESS they want to, to achieve this.

Re: All year lapsing
listen lets get a few things straight about lapsing/absorbing, the union fu**ed up the agreement should have been based on when you finish your round, you come back and then , only if you have time should you do more, also how many on here have had the new indoor work tool used to make sure you have time to absorb!!! when this happens to you, dont run to the union because all you are told is "just do it and put in a grievance" all the more reason to hammer home the big yes vote and make sure these mistakes are not repeated

Looks like our rep afgeed thsi then cos she/he is saying do it first then come back to do your round.
I am getting in 2 mins b4 start and doing it by the book. Some rounds that are cushy because the existing postie gets in early and nips out to do a bit ( I am relief) are not easy when I do them them properly. Trouble is nobody agrees with me and find it amusing. Cant win but I shall carry on working to my time.

Re: All year lapsing
Why not keep it simple, assess your TOTAL allocated delivery workload each and every day and if you can not complete in your duty time use normal procedures for that situation.
Unfortunatley RML will see that as refusing to do your work and try and CC you and take you off pay, rather than assess your performance and the duty before making any decisions.
