DODGY WALKFRAME LABELS

Are you frustrated by dodgy walkframe labels? Scribbles, bodges, missing info, wrong sequence etc…
With all the extra stress of duty cuts and walk expansions it seems dumb to have to keep coping with such rubbish on the frames.
Especially for RDCs and reserves. A while back I did a quick poll and got responses that indicated the problem is across the network.

Lets face it mate, when we went over onto this type of frame this problem was always going to rear its head sooner or later.

A matter to debate over the issue is whose remit does keeping the frame in order fall under.

I would have thought the issue fell under tools for the job and as such was a management responsability but as they are so over worked fetching and carrying from the coffee machine and stood in two's and three's observing the ips and such like they will no doubt pass the buck down to the duty holder.

As such there will only ever be scribbled notes and marks that the experienced understand and the untrained guy who gets drafted onto the job will struggle.

Thisis indicative of the cancer running straight through the company, management are just incapable of managing, after all, they are not there because of what they have to offer in a man management environment, they are there because the front line job was just too bloody hard for them.

I spend about 20 minutes per day last week prepping with a badly numbered frame (by pegasus, quite how it thinks it's a 3.5 hour delivery if it wants me to do it in THAT order!).
Then I spent and an extra 10 minutes pulling the mail out and putting it back in the correct order (i.e. pull out 7,5,4,3,6,2,1 and put it back into 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)

I think an extra line of code needs to be in the Pegasus program - if the letter boxes are 2 feet apart then leave then in the same f**king order!

Its an easy fix.....ask the person who does the APlus in your office to sequence the walk correctly and then print off the labels.....these can be done on either proper paper labels that are sticky so you just put them over the existing or the better idea as i have done in my office is to do them on normal paper and laminate them...then just cut them to size and slide into the frame filletts.....management should allow the Aplus person tome to do this as it will be benificial to all

and theres the problem our APlus guy is long term sick so its down to the managers
few weeks ago i was chucked on to help a part timer put up a rural walk.
i couldnt even tell you where these places are let alone know the frame.
it was the worst frame ive ever seen. bits crossed out/written over
bits of streets tacked on here and there.
then i find a pile of mail at the side that wasnt on the frame at all
the guy tells me the other rural guys had told him it was on the walk even though it wasnt on he frame

Nothink has changed ours are absolutely abissimal but this is somethink R/M have done and they beleive there work to be a 100% correct, so do two things sort them out for yourselves or leave them alone then the DIMS cant keep ramming down our throats " well you lads voted for this this " as ours used to do. Funnily enough havent heard him say that phrase for a very long time now as hes been to busy eating humble pie..

The problem is that we never stand still long enough to take stock of the situation - there should be a system whereby all changes are noted in the APlus and every 3 months volunteers are asked to come in and, with the APlus Data, create new sticks as per the current walk order, on overtime of course.

One of the problems is that, although it should not be allowed to happen, some of the frames are created for someone using a car and then a walker is put on the frame. It's true to say that we are our own worst enemy.

leave your frame the way it is the longer you are working inside the less you have to do on the street , that will piss the dom off more if you are leaving mail and then they wont be long sorting it out

I think that keeping walk frames updated is one of the basic things that managers should be keeping on top of. In reality management spend most of their time prepping walks!
