For the past four strikes in north London the same five posties have crossed the same picket-line at their DO, and they said they would do it again. Four of these posties are CWU members. They said they would only strike on the National.
BTW three of the posties are FT.

A ballot of workers in ANY unit/workplace MUST be supported as it is DEMOCRACY without which we would all be in serfdom (SLAVERY) it is not for greed nor wanton power but equality and fairness and above all respect for all we do and we do this for service and not for the profiteers :cfo and :mfo we are humble posties not free market racketeers!. It is the way of greed that shall divide and thus conquer all by the ones who let them do this too them for some will not give unto greed nor apathy it is those who will fight the fight which must be fought for all!.

That's highly debatable. NEW Labour (as opposed to real Labour) have done the damage faster than the Tories. But it was the Tories, who made most of the Anti Union Laws, which make it so much harder for us to fight injustices. So which one did the most damage?
I'm not sure. But don't forget: There's more than 2 Parties to choose from. :hmmmm

@ andy2007 i think what linkinpark said adds slightly more to my argument about labour (new old useless whatever you want to call them) when he said

"The labour job went well with loads of posties hitting Brighton. The One sad bit was HQ did not seem to put in ANY work on getting Brighton posties out for the day so we had the demo whilst Brighton Posties had to work and drove by us. I defo think some "new liebour" people got the idea they had upset the posties as well as many other Trade Unions looking at the ammount of others there. A good day that got us in the news and shook a few in Government i hope."

My point being even though the tories brought in anti union laws, our union is hardly looking clever. I mean if those laws brought in by the tories (im presuming it was maggie as it was before i could vote) were so damaging to the unions why didnt it give the kick up the backside our union needs? Its not being run with any great leadership is it.

Also isnt the labour party meant for the workers? How many strikes go on these days, seems everyone has had a strike or few since labour have been in.

I totally agree that there are more than two parties but i think there are only two that have any chance of winning.

Yes, I agree with you about CWU HQ. Although in my experience, the local and area Reps are fantastic.

You're right about it being Thatcher, who brought in the bulk of the anti-Union laws. It was before I was old enough to vote too. But I wasn't far off. So I took a keen interest in what was going on, ready for my chance, come the next General Election! (I had a lot more faith in the power of the voter back then!)

As for Labour being the Party for the workers. Well it was, in the past. That's why they made such a big thing, of being New Labour. So they could distance themselves from that great heritage, and get into power. Now, they're difficult to distinguish from the Tories. :evil/mad :arrrghhh :evil/mad

The worrying thing about Labour and Conservatives being considered the only 2 with a chance of winning. Is that if that's true. It doesn't actually matter which one you'd vote for. Because they're virtually identical. :arrrghhh

@andy 2007 i agree except i do think there is one slight difference. Labour will tell you they are doing one thing and dont. The tories will tell you they arent going to do it in the first place.

walking through a picket line while fellow workers fight your cause is as bad as a soldier at war hiding during a shootout with the enemy.

seeing as you brought the point up, i have mentioned in other posts about TA commissioned officers and Special Police contables not being allowed to join a union as they are not allowed to join an organisation which has "a political agenda" they are also not allowed to go on strike as it is "making a political statment" so what would you suggest to them if they came to the picket line and were about to cross, now i was a STAB till recently and have a couple of mates who are still in, now these people are willing and have deployed as TA reservists and possibly intend to again, but if they break a strike they could lose their commisions if it was ever reported to their chain of command(am sure a nice royal mail manager wouldnt hessitate to drop one in it if he could), so what would you say to these good men who have and are volunteering to fight for our democratic freedoms when they need to cross the line, and by the way they dont want to do it but they want to fight for their country more?

oh and this is not a wah or anything or a manager stirring the s**t, have been a member for several months and i voted for strike actions, just wanted to put a different slant on a situation

Then the go to the rep and the rep explain the situation - and IMHO they should get the backing of the picket line -

This is my opinion and I expect to be slated for it - but I would respect them for crossing they have a higher calling than we do and I would applaud them as they crossed. They are in a No win situation and I support them fully. End off.

They have no choice and as long as they are up front and decent about it then I will be too. Perhaps they could sneak out a free breakfast or 2

just like to add tbt, there are two in my do, both of them went in together to see the dom today, they told him in no uncertain terms, that if they did have to cross a line, they under no circumstances would be doing anything other than their contracted jobs, they would not carry out any work they would not be expected to undertake under normal circumstances as that would also be "making a political statement" if they were trying to undermine the strike, and they pointed out that they have been in touch with SABRE who said they will completely back them on that and would happily remove RM from their list of TA friendly employers if they tried to get them to undermine the strike,

as for the breakfasts, the lads would not be sneaking anything anywhere, i know these two, they would walk out with bacon butties for the line with there heads held high

i just want to raise the fact that there are a few(too few in fact more of us should be in the TA imho) that should be allowed to cross the line and be respected for it
