Public debate on Royal Mail

Post by ade@cambs »

The motion the CWU got put into the Labour party conference on the future of Royal Mail is being heard today at 1545. Try to see it on BBC parliament (click "live"). The debate will be about our future and sorting the despicable actions of its management out

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The motion was carried, but what does that mean? Have they agreed to pay up?

No the Labour Party Conference only makes policy for the Labour Party not the Government (even though it is a labour one at the moment) However, it does mean that more pressure has been added so although they may ignore it at least they know what the grass roots of the party think.

BTW Billy 9/10 for that speech - he stumbled over a few words but his delivery and content was very good IMHO.

Woodley - :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause Cracking speech.

The Posties one saying he would set the dogs on them if they did not sort it our :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

The CLP speaker with the CWU Husband - another good speech.

Sorry but Woodley is a hypocrite...

CMA is under the Unite umbrella. 1500 of his members going to london to mop up after the strikes and all hes worried about is what Murdoch thinks.

Well alot of managers in my office are still in the CWU!

My point is Woodley should be instructing his members to back the CWU - not to undermine it.

With you all the way, just wondered how many of the 1500 were union members not that a single one of them will have any feeling of guilt.

True I am in agreement with you. However with Unite I think its starting to suffer from being too big a Union. It has too many vested interests, too many leaders and its being pulled in too many directions and has too many campaigns. Because of this the CMA sneak under the radar and are allowed to do what they are doing. However the leaders of Unite cannot say they are unaware of the actions of some within the Union movement as it was brought to its attention at a CWU lead match at their conference IIRC.

Despite all the above we can still applaud him for backing our Union on the Pension issue, even if we disagree with what some of the members of his Union are doing.
