Did any Night driver Cross the picket line Friday morning?

Hi all,
As you will know, this action was split. People who worked on the night shift had to do a full shift Thursday night into friday morning and then they were on strike Friday night.

This meant that when we were delivering the mail to local do's, they were out on strike but we had to work as normal.
We as drivers were instructed that we had to cross the picket line as our strike did not commence until Friday night.

What I would like to know is, did any of the drivers refuse to cross the picket line and if so, what was the result of their actions?

There were three of our drivers that did not cross picket lines and we have been told that they are going to be interviewed Monday concerning their actions but just wondering what was happening across the country.

We had a couple of drivers turn up at Sale, having come from Manchester mail center. They crossed the line, but to be fair, we didn't stop them. One offered to show us the letter he had regarding the time differences in the strike pattern, but we didn't bother. Our arguement is a collective one, and we already knew the score

I know the difference was to do with the shift patterns, and it would have meant people going in for about 2hrs, at the start of their shift, or 3hrs at the end.

the drivers from stockport mail centre arrived at 4am,5am and 6am. we let them through as their shifts started at 11pm thurs night till 7am friday. this was with the blessing of the union ??? regards dongash opg macclesfield (100% scabfree!!!!)

we had a agency driver in thursday night,fair play to him he refused to cross the picket line.

No card carrying member of the CWU should cross any picket line, anywhere , and most especially a CWU
picket line.

Management are pulling some people's chains regarding the crossing of official picket lines. It doesn't matter which
shift starts when,
DON'T CROSS PICKET LINES.

Tbh i though all this was a bit strange,our guy crossed it,but i dont think anyone realised.
I suppose technically he shouldn't have,but he was on strike in the evening.
Strange going ons!

Goes out to the driver from Chester MC who unloaded his wagon outside the gate in the pissing rain then phoned up the office to tell him to collect the mail from the gate,

at the git who had to move 15 yorks from the gate into the office.

Hopefully, the union will clarify the position for all members before the next round , I for one will get my branch sec. to
send a communication to all members in West London regarding official picket lines.

You will be pleaesd to know that in my little corner of the world, which is the true blue conservative heartland of huntingdonshire, the County TUC (Cambridgeshire) called a meeting for wednesday night just gone to set up a Huntingdon and St Neots Trades Council. A votec was taken and it was in favour of setting up a new trades council. The county TUC feels very strongly that unions and branches in huntingdonshire should be involved in the wider trade union movement and with the TUC locally and nationally.

I am hoping to be the offical CWU Eastern 5 branch delegate to the new trades council.

That news of yours from such a Tory heartland too, warms the cockles of my heart, it really does.

The forging of stronger links has to be the way to go , we have enemies in whichever direction we look , and whatever can be done
to make those very true words, 'UNITY IS STRENGTH' , a hard to ignore reality , must be tried.

Pity about Harriet Harmon winning the race for deputy PM. Interesting times ahead of us, methinks !

At our depot at Totton nr Southampton Two of the four lorries turned back but the other two were driven by managers. We had 4 go in out of 68 which is exceptional our lot are usually to quick to toe the line.

Allegedly, the ones who refused to cross Friday morning are being interviewed Monday night by the manager.
They have been briefed to quote the health and safety act, that if they themselves feel in danger or if they feel they may put anyone else in danager, they should not cross.

RM managers say that everyone was briefed saying you should cross the picket line etc etc.

We'll wait and see what happens.

The main question was to those who did not cross, have they been informed that any action is going to be taken against them or have they been told that it is ok not to cross.

This is not a question about what is right or wrong in the union eyes but what the outcome is should someone refuse.
