IMP h/s question.

Can anyone tell me the national agreement on how many people are needed to run an IMP when only running it as a LSM.(in other words without the drum,and culler running?)Always used to be 4 for the whole machine,and 3 for just the mmp.A while back the local rep agreed with mangement that 2 people was acceptable when running as an lsm,but a lot of people aren't happy with it,as it can be hard graft with just one on the sorter,plus the person feeding the mail has their back to the sorter,so cannot see what is happening to the person on the sorter?Any idea's?cheers

Does the "LSM part" of an IMP do what an MTT does? It it does then 2 would sound about right. We normally have 2 per LSM on our night shift.

yes,similar to an lsm,but the way an imp is designed,you can't see the person on the sorter because the feed section faces away from the sorter.So if something happened to the person on the sorter,theres a good chance you wouldn't know about it! ,hence the health and safety issue

Get the engineers to put a mirror up so that that people on the feed and sorting sections can see each other.

We only have an LSM ( extended from 160 to 200 boxes ) weve have 1 on feed , 1 tying down , more to the point we now have to run MTT work through aswell so when running as well as tying down the plan we have to unload the mail from the last 6 or so boxes with mail from 3 other plans , needless to say its a complete nightmare.
