The hollow man wrote:Also, i take it that geo-route does not take into account the time it takes to throw off heavy walks and prep times, as all walks differ in our office to the amount of mail/packets each walk recieves, some walks have shedloads of mail and packets others very little  so how can a fair system be imposed :hmmmm

this is typical of British companies today.
Some bright spark/ silleek hunt thinks to embrace technology instantly means a step forward and cuts out hard work.....ie.someone propery evaluating a walk from a human perspective.

they NEVER think of the possible knock on effects and the stress it may cause .

imo royal fail should have a team of walk assesors who do walks themselves and prep them and make a proper judgement from there.

how the f**k os a computer programme gonna tell ya about a trades buzzer going off at 11 thus making a walk longer instantly???

GeoRoute can address the following requirements, many of them unique to mail delivery operations:

* Build routes using postal codes (such as ZIP+4) or any other form of street sections used for mail sorting, and which typically must be kept in the same route.
* Handle separately each side of the street, as they may be assigned to different routes.
* Allocate mail sorting time to each route based on mail volume.
* Include required stops at extra pouch boxes.
* Zigzag narrow and/or lightly populated streets where allowed and more efficient.
* Account for several possible transport modes or combination of modes to travel between the depot and route start/end points (e.g., public transit + walking to/from bus stop), or during delivery (e.g. park & loop routes). Appropriate parameters (e.g., speed, need to account for one-ways) are applied to each travel mode.

This results in a more accurate evaluation of each route's duration. Based on this evaluation, GeoRoute’s optimization tools design routes that include as much delivery time as possible, while respecting maximum workday duration and minimizing travel time. This normally translates into a reduced number of routes for a given area.

OK, so what isn't it addressing? Toilet breaks, the time it takes to wait at a door, the time it takes to write out a P739, theres got to be more?
