I rang the CWU helpline (0800 107 1909) Monday 21nd Sept @ 10.15amhantsman wrote:Jack Mehoff wrote:brothermagrew wrote:It may be best if your female colleague contacts the CWU Harassment Hotline and seeks their knowledgeable guidance at least she could get it put on record as having occured.
CWU Harassment Hotline knowledgeable guidance was this: "You need to speak to your union rep as this is just a Helpline". She then asked if her complaint could be logged and was told again, "You need to speak to your union rep as this is just a Helpline". I guess things are worse than I thought.
I have rung about 5 times over 3 years, the above is not correct in anyway, are you ringing the RM line? All calls are logged.
I was informed that the call on saturday 19th september made by my friend was not logged and that they had no record that my friend had even rang them, but they couldn't tell me why. I was then asked to hold while a manager was consulted, after a couple of minutes I was informed that someone was consulting with the manager so I waited some more. After a few more minutes I was asked if I wouldn't mind holding just a bit longer. While I was waiting I was informed that the CWU helpline was an independent company that provided a service for the CWU. More minutes passed and then I was told that all the managers were busy and would it be possible if I could call back later as there were no managers available to talk to me at that moment in time.
The RM helpline (0800 587 4777) was a completely different kettle of fish. My friend rang them directly after she had rang the CWU helpline on saturday. She obtained all the information she needed and the operative was extremely helpful and knowledgable in all aspects. The call was duly logged and a reference number was provided.
