WHERE IS OUR UNION.....?
I'm an OPG in Ayr DO...which recently took unofficial action for our Nightshift driver being taken off pay for refusing to cross the picket-line at GMC..!! That was only days after our own official IA in support of the National position. This spread to a few local offices who also took unofficial IA...every office received a 'return to work' document stating the terms of our return. For some DO's this wasn't satisfactory...but the understanding was this could be negotiated (28 day period).! Now to add salt to the wounds, the '30min flex' is being FORCED onto members..!!.....regardless if your social life allows
If they fail to 'flex' they are given a letter warning , if they do it again they are to be taken off pay..? Members at certain offices had this situation(could not flex) so they were given 3 options....go sit in canteen...'volunteer to work'...or go home...!!!
The offices decided to continue to stay at work(off pay)..to show manager that they were willing to work their shift but not flex...manager then instructed that all vans, keys, bikes were to be taken from the members unabling them to do any work whatsoever...!! Area Rep who was in meeting with higher ranking CWU & RM officials, brought this situation up...and asked RM what was happening in Ayrshire...after explaining the removal of vans, bikes, keys etc....the reply was that the 'integrity' of the mail was in question due to members being taken off pay
...!!! Area rep then sought advice from his senior comrade who's reply was "it's your call"..!! Then he called Bob Gibson who was unavaliable but his side-kick advised him that the members should "stick in" & "don't give up"..!! Later word was received that our almighty Dave Ward had left similar advice "don't give in"
Area rep has f***ing nowhere else to go...he has called certain TV channels, radio stations and newspapers....cos this union is DOING f**k ALL....!!!! WE NEED HELP......WHERE ARE YOU UNION....????????

Re: WHERE IS OUR UNION.....?
first thing ayr d/o must do is a grievance from all members,if i was being forced to work 30mins flex against my will,i would cooperate, the advice from hq was dont give in,they are im afraid using the fact that you had the nerve to take unnoficial action as a reason to wave the big stick, the waverers in the unit after seeing the sanctions/loss of pay/etc,might turn against the cwu both locally and nationally,we must aviod that scenario.stay strong ,just laugh at them ,the national ballot result will hopefully stuff there bullying chaos managment treatment of us right up them, there reasons for taking keys etc of the members under the mails safety guise,is outrageous, the west of scotland managers have been onthe fiddle
and we all know that the doms were doing there bidding for there seniors, mail safety i ask you what a cheek,,,,, sit tight bide your time the ballot result is coming ,,,and as they know only to well so is xmas

Re: WHERE IS OUR UNION.....?
I work in Ayr DO but it was offices in the near vicinity that had the 'flex' shoved in their face..!! Local unit reps musta performed miracles to stop their members walking - this is intimidation at it's lowest level...!! National better take care of it.....cos if they come out with another Pay & Mod agreement then we're all f****d.....!!! Ballot paper with a big X in the 'yes' box is on it's way anyway.....!!!!

If they try to force flexing on you walk out again, and again, and again, someone will soon take notice.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: WHERE IS OUR UNION.....?
30 mins flex is voluntary.
It was in the last agreement. Surely they are acting illegaly by forcing you to do OT?
Someone needs to see a solicitor me thinks.
Why are people still working without pay? Its ludicrous. If they take you off pay for refusing to flex then dont work. Use the time to seek legal advice or something.

Re: WHERE IS OUR UNION.....?
Office in question has official IA alongside a Public hol on the horizon.....if they're pushed to walk, then the official one disappears..!! But agree with the point on the legality of the managers action,it should be worth checking..!!

Re: WHERE IS OUR UNION.....?
Why not just do the 30 mins flex and all take it back on the same day ie. saturday.
I do believe that it must be given back in the same working week?
It would be better than working a day for free for Royal Mail.
