:Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause We've let them get away with too much for far too long. About time we got an increase in D2D payments to, can anyone remind me of the last time the payment rate went up? :hmmmm

the D2D agreement of 1996 pushed the bog-standard 1.65p per 20gm item to the princely sum of 1.67p and it has remained at 1.67p since as far as i am aware.

You misquoted him he said
it's also against the spec for D2D to fold any items inside a larger item. They must be kept seperate at the point of delivery.
and he is right there is a Post in the News Forum http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... et#p152789" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; where Royal Mail confirm its an official requirement not to "nest" them or insert one inside another.

Yep here is the quote from the RM spokesman
A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “We are investigating the complaint and working with the council to resolve the issue.

“We will remind our staff that they must not put one item of door to door mail inside another, even if this is for ease of delivery, as this is against Royal Mail guidelines.”

That may be the spec, but not the sensible way to do it , i have never seen anybody do anything other than put the smaller d2d inside the bigger 1, hence making 1 item to put through the door. Anybody that does it anyother way is just making life that little bit harder for themselves, but hey each to their own :cool

chumley - you're wrong. If you were advertising your own business, and the postman 'nested' your D2D inside a bigger one, I'm sure you wouldn't be too pleased. The chances of the customer reading your advertising has halved as they most likely would throw the whole damn lot in the bin if the bigger D2D did not interest them. However if it was delivered separately, the customer would have seen your D2D and it might have been just what they were after, and hey presto - you would have a potential sale. I know I would be pissed off if my business' D2D was not for all to see.

So stop being lazy, stop being a sheep by following what the others do in your office. Do the job right, and there will be nothing the management will be able to do against you.

update, d2d are now done in works time it's official. so now my dim needed to talk to me about cutting off, twice this week and a half hour ot on monday he can't stand it. everyone else finishes he says. yeah right, because they do overtime, not taking all the mail out or coming in early and rushing about, not me baby. obviously it's all my fault. i have offered to be timed on several occasions but he says they don't do that [darn't] in the meeting i phoned the rep and had a word with him, so did my witness, then it was the dims turn now he's talking to someone who knows more than him, his bullsh1t was getting shot down, his face was getting redder and redder and his grin was getting more forced and sickly by the minute. i had put my phone on loudspeaker and could hear it all, i was p1ssing myself. bottom line the dim either puts up or shuts up, no more comparing me to other people or remarks on my ability. do the job properly and remember the union is your friend, without it i would of lamped the dim by now and walked. i cannot stress enough how important the union is, stay loyal to it. also i cannot thank it enough for what it has done for me. as john f kennedy said "ask not what your union can do for you - ask what you can do for your union"

your dim shouldn't be comparing you to other people, bang out of order everyone is different. other people could be using cars, this job is supposed to be able to be done without cars, are they starting work early [unpaid] ? are they rushing about ? are they on the same walk every week while you are on a different walk every week. if you are doing the job properly then it shows the job needs looking at not you. my union rep said put the the ball back in their court and ask them where you might be going wrong, have you got a problem with my performance etc. you have them asked for help, how can they call you then when they haven't helped you. i have asked to be timed on a walk. the dom said we don't do that. so the union rep said it was up to the dim to address the problem not me so put up or shut up. all this is has happened after i put a letter of grievance in. sh1t was happening before that, you know how it goes. try to make sure there is a witness and then tell him you are putting a letter of grievance in, because of the way you are being spoken to. you are made to feel inadaquate, belittled, humilliated and any other suitable words in front of other people. talk to your rep. credit where credits due i might have a pair of balls and my dim had better get used to them because i will be resting them on his chin whenever i get the chance but i could not of done what i have without the backing of the union. good luck.
