Re: wife tells rep, "strike and you're out"
IF rm was to make compulsory redundancies , who do you think the do managers would get rid of first ??? the ones who come in get there heads down and get the job done or the miserable awkward gits who moan about everything and make the whole place a worse place to work ????? which ones would you get rid of if it was you ?????? ( belive me i have seen what happens at other places ) plus i dont think seniority packs the punch it used to
. If the rm want a modern way of working, dont you think they want a modern work force to go with it ?????? Give it a few years and all but a few rm staff will be part time.
maybe a few sad facts but true .........

No SA's in my office, they went years ago.
As for compulsory redundancies, do people really think that's going to happen? RM have publicly said there will be none, and whilst I don't particularly trust them, I thought every office was like mine with a queue a mile long just waiting to take VR! (and mine is a good office to work in!)

Wow with an attitude like that it's no wonder you get on well with your managers, I bet you go into the office every morning for a fight, no wonder they treat you like sh1t, and your poor wife.WarDog wrote:Sorry to dissapoint you peg but i would tell her to F**K OFF reason being i am passionate about my job and have been in it a long time. you are not a very good liar.
My wife has said one day a week is fine, but she doesn't know it means losing all the extra bits I do, but if it goes to more than one day a week she has told me straight, we have bills to pay, and once it affects that, SHE will expect me to go into work, picket line or no picket line, Unlike the Union Reps I wont get a days pay when I'm on strike.
I have bills to pay, and yes it will hurt me to go out even for one day a week, after only 14 weeks in a job after three months on the dole, my bank balance is in the negative at the end of every month.
Some of you people want to wake up, this job, despite all the cons, but with the pro's, is much better than £65 a week on the dole, and don't say that is where we are all heading because it's not.
My wife does work thank you very much, she actually works more hours than I do, but we have two teenagers to feed, ouur food bill is £90 a week, plus essentials like bread and milk during the week, neither of us smoke or drink, we havn't been out for a meal together in years.
Next time you go out on your walk, on here andivert out to the country, then come d tell me how many horses you see in the fields pulling ploughs ?.
Listen buddy my other half works and she works very hard and her job is 1000 times more stressful than mine ive got teenage kids and bills to pay so im not interested in all those excuses .The simple truth of the matter is that if we dont strike you wont have a job especially if your relatively new and not got many years under your belt. Do you actually under stand why we are being balloted have you bothered to read any of the literature that you have received through the post and understood the facts. Ive lost a lot of money over the past month and my bank balance is in a dire state but i am not moaning about it why because the reason we did go out was for the right reasons not for a little jolly or an easy week but because we had to and im more than happy and ready to go out in the national as i voted yes if you wanted to no.
You back some one into a corner after years of cuts and B/H they will naturally come out fighting. Please dont compare us horses pulling ploughs as i find that very offence we are all really donkeys that have left the fields and are now working for R/M ploughing the local streets so if you would have said " divert out to the country, then come and tell me how many DONKEYS you see in the fields pulling ploughs " i would not have taken offence to that part of your post..
And you still havnt told WHY YOU THINK REPS GET PAID WHEN WE STRIKE AS THEY DONT. THEY DONT GET ANY MONEY FOR REPPING
What a hypocrite you are, now you say you are "passionate about your job" but all you do on here is whinge and moan about it, never happy are you, truth is you've got a cushy number and someone has found you out, well it's been easy for the 20 odd years in the past, now you have to do what the rest have to..............work for a bloody living.
I bet you hanker for the days when posties wore Sunday best and ties, all mail was sorted and franked by hand, well you really do need to wake up to reality, it's the 21st century, man has landed on the moon, if you were in charge we'd still be living in caves and using bows and arrows, oh and modernisation will go through, whether you or I like it or not, and heres a real shock, a postmans job will become 9-5 because more and more people are getting pissed off with getting up at half past stupid and not getting the night bonus you dinosaurs kept in the last round of strikes...............and we all know what happened to the dinosaurs.
As for Reps being paid, I have it on good authority from a Union Rep in another trade.
PS you don't know me and hopefully you never will, so please do not give people the wrong impression about me by your calling me buddy, I am not your buddy.

Re: wife tells rep, "strike and you're out"
Your both right, Pegman did not say we landed on the moon in the 21st Century he said, its the 21st Century and we have already landed on the moon . Although to be fair there is debate on all points, did we land on the moon or a film lot, and did the Germans develop rockets or did they just weaponize them more than others did.Pegman wrote:whitemoor66 wrote:Pegman wrote:it's the 21st century, man has landed on the moon,

By the way you write it is easy to see that you are probably an ex deputy manager of one of the larger supermarkets..... You need to chill out dude. I wonder how your wife will feel when you tell her that because of people like you, the union lost and that now you have to bid for your monthly/weekly hours at RM. But I guess you don't give a rats arse because more than likely you intend becoming a dim dom yourself.Pegman wrote:Been there, done that, back on the dole and work like f**k to find to another job, every company is the same, all that matters is the bottom line it doesn't matter if it is a private or public company.shadow wrote:PEGMAN my situation is the same as yours. Anyone who thinks that stiking will improve things is in cuckoo land, the changes will happen, moderisation will happen, even if the government have to change laws to allow it to, it will happen, all strikes do is slow the process up for short time.
My wife would never tell me to go against what I believe in. As long it's not illegal she will back me, and I would do the same for her.
When I got married a part of our vows were "For better or worse".
And as I've said on a previous thread....

Re: wife tells rep, "strike and you're out"
You couldn't be more wrong, and as for aspirations of being a DIm or DOM, I think at 52 I'm past onsideration for those roles.Jack Mehoff wrote:By the way you write it is easy to see that you are probably an ex deputy manager of one of the larger supermarkets..... What do you think will happen if there is compulsery redundancies. Last in first out usualy.

Re: POLL:How are you going to vote in the National Ballot?
I'm not sure if after only 12 weeks (17 when the strike is supposed to take place) that i fully understand what is going on.
But from the reasons that have been explained to me (reduced pensions etc) I would vote yes, and stick to it.
