Matey please read this carefully. There is a sacred folder in the managers office with every posties name in it. This folder has the the ACTUAL total hours worked by each and everyone of us. This folder goes back as far as 5-6 months. Some guys owe maybe 10, 11, 12 hours and maybe even higher and have absolutely no idea they even owe them. I don't wanna be owing them hours. Especially not anything above 1 hour. For them to come round to me some day and say you owe us X amount of hours when are you gonna work them up? NO WAY SIR!

Not following where the banking hours process has come from. There are no agreements about banking hours, yet! Was it brought in by local agreement? I'm sure it breaks with national agreements. Long/shorts were agreed, but they are still based on set duty times everyday.
I very rarely finish before my time, but when I do, I don't have to work the time back. I am available to work for my hours on that day, if the work runs out, it isn't my fault.
Even if this kind of banking comes in, it will be very restricted as it interferes with work life balance.
You need to contact your area rep about this I think......

Me dunno for sure mate. I'm only the hired help. There has been that many changes and agreements in our office over the last few years it's quite hard to keep up. Just ask disgruntledpostie as he's not a million miles away from me.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

All I can say is that if you are bound by this agreement then there is no need to fly around on your duty or to come in early because you just get punished for it, you don't have to slow down but just follow all RMs own rules and that will take you to your time everyday.

I have absolutely NO WAY of knowing what hours I have or haven't worked. Surely it is up to my manager to inform me? Trust me disgruntled, I do everything as it should be done. Somedays I have no choice but to be finished early as the IPS has been finished an hour early.

WELCOME TO MY WORLD, eh? You guys who have Reps who will do whatever is necessary or what they feel is right should be very grateful. My Rep obviously takes it lying on the broad of his back. Full of confidence now as he will be in with me in tomorrow.

I sign out and go home. I don't keep a running a total of the hours I have worked. I've never needed to. Or so I thought. Surely it is up to the managers to let us know if we owe hours or not? They have all the paperwork and the running tally of each and every person in the office. Yet it is only when someone goes into the office that's never asked in about 7 weeks if they owe any hours or not to be told they owe 8 hours. Where's the communication?NewPostieUK wrote:Sorry if I'm missing something here, but don't you look at the clock when you sign in and out?Sci_Dog wrote: I have absolutely NO WAY of knowing what hours I have or haven't worked

Blast beat me to it.
If they kept a record of the hours made by management, they would owe weeks not hours.
We was told a while ago that we would all be expected to return to the office and sign off, great idea i thought, that will stop the runners.
Sadly when i mentioned looking forward to seeing all the managers working their hours, the idea was duly dropped.
